Subject: Rheumatoid Arthritis & Fibromyalgia

I went to see consultant today at the appointment he confirmed that I had fibromalgia as well as RA. Is it common do have both? I take Sulfasalazine for my RA and it seems to be starting to help a little now. Been taking it 14 weeks now. Thank you. Gillian

hey, there are a few of us on here with RA and Fibro. I was diagnosed with RA first then the Fibro. How are you feeling about the diagnosis?

Just wondering what info you have been given about meds/ management of fibro?

If you havnt been given any or much here are a few useful sites which i go on for advice and great info about fibro, the first one is...www.ukfibromyalgia.com this one is more of a forum like this one but if you look thru the differant areas you will find loads of really good posts which you may find very relevant to any symptoms you have.

the other one is the 'fibromyalgia asossiation', this is somewhere you can download various information leaflets if you havnt been given any, and they also have a good bit of info about what FM is.

Im suggesting the above information spots because personally the NHS info is poor.

Hope some of this has been helpful, any questions just ask :) x

Thank you Kirst. Really appreciate your reply.
They didnt give me any information yesterday at the hospital. Its not that long ago that I was diagnosed with RA and I still have not got used to the long term problems with work etc., and being told yesterday I had Fibro was just about the tin lid on things. When the consultant was pressing the points the ones on my back and shoulders produced huge amount of pain. It seemed to stir the pain up with my RA as well and I actually felt really poorly this morning when I got up for work after a bad night sleeping and pain. I think my RA has flared up again and I was doing so well with the Sulfasalazine. Just shows not to count your chickens !! They have not suggested any medication for the Fibro but I have an appointment with my GP on Monday so will have a chat with him. Never rains but it pours!! Take care Gillian
