Subject: arthritis in my foot

Hi, I've just read some of the problems people have and feel really guilty about mine because it isn't even worth a mention by comparison!

I have arthiritis in my big toe and toe knuckle brought on by a badly fitting shoe 30 years ago. So far it's progressed very slowly, but last week severe pain suddenly kicked in - and kicked me off the dancefloor and I've not been able to dance since. (Some of you, I know, will say "lucky you being able to dance at all" and I don't blame you).

I apologise for whinging on about my minor problem but I wondered if anybody knows where I can get dance shoes made which will support my foot and allow me to step backwards and forwards without pain, or at least with less pain.

Incidentally, I've had surgery offered but been told it would only fuse my toe joint together and would put me out of action for three months. Has anybody else had this done, and if so, was it worth it? Also, does anybody know what the end result of my condition is if it's not treated at all?

ThanksAnthony

When i was at the podiatrist they had a few brochures on shoes for people with feet problems. Maybe you could try asking somewhere like that?

I forgotten the name of the books sorry x
