Subject: Eyes
Hi everyone, haven't been on site for a while. I would like to ask if anyone has trouble with their eyes, eg pain, redness not just in the eye but around the outside too, and stickiness every morning. I was diagnosed with PA (they think) a year ago and am taking MTX and Sulfa. On Monday the consultant said the arthritis can also affect the eyes, which I haven't heard of till then. Can anyone throw some more light on the eye subject. Thank you.

Hi Sandie, Sorry to hear your having problems with your eyes:( Your consultant is right it can affect the eyes, I don't think it's the medication that is causing it. It is a good ides to Google Rheumatoid Arthritis there is loads of info on it:) Take care

Hi sandie, I've had eye pain but not sticky eyes just bloody painful throbbing feeling in my eyeballs. it was during a flare up and for a while afterwards. but did have cysts in left eye years ago which i think was part of RA without realising it as wasn't diagnosed then. I bathe my eyes everyday since then. dont' know of anything to make it not hurt though sorry - hope you feel better soon xxx

Hi Sandie, sticky eyes sounds like infection. Have you seen your GP about it? Your GP may prescribe drops for you Worth the time to get it looked at. Hope this helps. Take care

My eyes have been bad for ages and bloodshot most days. I went to the opticians and he said eyes are fine but the left eye tears broke too easy so ive been given false tears to use in my eyes which keeps them fluid and not dry or sore

Just to let you know I have found something which really really helps my eyes to calm down. Totally soak a few cotton discs with Witch Hazel and put them over your eyes and relax for 15/20 minutes. I couldn't believe the difference!
