Hi Davina, i have had a bad time with my hands sooo painful the worst they have ever been. Havent been on the forum for a while. Just thought i would say hello to you as you are having a rough time. I dont know if the weather is any thing to do with it. My pain meds two tramadol and two co-dydramol to-gether don't seem to be working. I need to see the GP but i feel to tired and in to much pain to go. I know this sounds stupid but i just can't be bothered with anything. I am not coping too well with it all at the moment.I suppose it will get a little better in its own time. its one o'clock in the morning and i still cant' sleep. This will be the fifth night oh well sleep will come eventually. Oh well enough of my tales of woe. I hope you feel better soon. I can also see Rachel husband is having a bad time of it. Sending him best wishes and hope he also feels better soon. Take care and keep smiling. X

HI Marlene, Davina and Rachel - it does indeed sound like a flare up Davina. From what i have experienced the pain never goes away but is mangeable with pain relief but a flare up is further pain and inflammation that needs the medication upped. (think that's it) Marlene, i too am having a bad time - everywhere is like a raging toothache - they took me off metx and i haven't got a substitue yet - never again will i leave the rheumatologist without a further appointment and if they take me off something i want a replacment immediately. I feel as though i have been left in limbo and like you the tremadol, cocodamol and diclofenac is not making a dent.
Sorry for taking over your post Davina obviously i have not started the day in the most positive of form.

hi mads thanks for your input and thats made me feel a little sad that it never goes away (but thank you for being honest, not many are)
i hope you get your meds soon, i agree next time don't leave til they give you something! maybe your gp could help with pain relieve just for now and give you something stronger?

Davina i didn't mean to make you feel sad. i am seeing things very bleakly at the minute. i am at the early stages as well but from what i have gathered is that the pain becomes manageable and one can lead as normal a life as possible when taking medication in between flares.
When i was on the metx i didn't actually think it was working until i came off it and realised how effective it actually was.
But i would love someone to come along and tell you that i am talking a load of baloney that the pain does subside. and the other thing i should say is that everyone is different and it effects people in different ways - you may have one big long episode and never have it again. And i am always hearing of stories where people with ra operate a normal life without pain.
hopefully you have got sorted a bit more now.

I find it very sad coming on here at times and seeing everyone in pain. Then I remember I've got RA, I'm starting to 'get use to the constant pain' and my pace of life slowing down very quickly, it's alien to me. Yet the slower I am the more it hurts but the faster I go the quicker I'm tired and the next day - more pain on top of the pain I already had - lol - I've got a cold and just hoping I don't get another flare up - only had one so far! wow! if I had the choice I wouldn't have another one :) And I've been busy this week but ache more and something in my head said just keep going and live you can rest some other time and I will when I need that rest. I hope you all have at least one good day, and soon x

mads its ok like i said its good that someone has said it, its taken for me a long time to realize that this will be with me for the rest of my life and a big part with pain.
i know everyone is different but at the moment i don't see a light out of this tunnel that i'm in.

rachel defo bug them cause they will leave you out, the ones that scream get the appointments and the others get pushed further out.

willis thank you for your input i know it is horrible that we all have this pain but its good to have this site that we can air our views, scream with pain and just rant about all the rubbish we have in our lives. lol hope your cold don't get to you to much and maybe rest that little bit more as your not well or it may hit you like a bomb.

marlene so glad you got some sleep, i do get to sleep very well but its when i wake in the night with pain thats the worse for me. but i'm very tied all the time so even when i'm aslepp i think my body is just trying to stop the pain.

just another question has anyone who as used enbral every had a lump and bruise come up stright away after the ijection, its very sore.

thanks x

Hi guys, i posted the other day saying i was new here, well i went back to work because of money reasons and i am a dental nurse so my manager today said to work at the desk. well between getting confused at was i was doing and now my wrists ache sore i am just like what is the point. i broke down today and well my boss the dentist yes said to me that he will pay privatly for me to see my rhumetologist. so as i am going on monday i am going to put these top rhumey consultants to the test and let them know what we think of the nhs and ask what treatment i will get diffrently if i was to go private and i will come on here a let you all know what we need to be getting to get our lifes back surley there is something that the private sector have that the nhs dont want to pay for but if we find out what it is then we can pressure our docs to giving us it. sorry to go on.
