Subject: Hands!!!

Hi all, I just wanted to rant (lol)- My hands are really bad today despite me being on predisnolone and just started taking 2 daily planequil ( I know this takes a time to work) but I was feeling pretty good until I started to taper off from the full 30mg 2 weeks ago, now I can feel it creeping back. My hands are sore, hot, stiff, and its hard to use my pincer fingers to pick anything up, the hand feels stiff and slightly crampy too. That is a new one on me. I have only had symptoms since march this year. I get pain on the under side of my fingers and its stiff to try to straighten them. Yet in mornings my hands arent too bad, but I seem to have it throughout the day. Is this normal in RA? I can really feel my knuckles and it is uncomfortable to type grrrrr!
my knuckles go from pale to red and i get alot pain along edge little finger side of hand and my wrist ( outer) I am just fed up of the daily pain and even tramcet wont take it away, and normal anti inflammatories just dont touch it...how do you guys get on with dealing with pain and painkillers, what works for you? Thanks in advance. Hugs xxxx

Hi Julie. I can only talk about my experiences. What you`ve said sounds normal for RA to me. I`m in the process of changing medication so only on mtx at the moment and wrists fingers and thumb joints are really causing me problems to the point where its difficult to do buttons up with pincer fingers, and knuckles are red and stiff so very similar to you. The only short term medication that works for me is prednisolone so I`ve took some of them today, just to get me to work tonight, but I don`t think my rheumy would be happy with me taking them ramdomly just to keep me moving..
Anyway, really hope you feel better soon. All the best,Richard
