Subject: What do I have?
Hi there, I am new here and would really apprecaite some help and advice. I am not getting anywhere fast with the docs and seem to be going around in circles. I stumbled upon your forum and it seems like a really nice place to be so I thought that I would post my short story here. About 4 years ago I got acute pain in my left foot. The docs were rubbish and after many appointments and only a few drugs, 4 months later the pain went away by itself. Fast forward 1 year to November 2009 and the same thing happens, but to my right foot. A change of docs helps no end but they diagnose it as gout. About 3 months later after lots of very invasive drugs most of which were no good, it again goes by itself. Fast forward to 1 year to November 2010. I get the same pain but now it has switched back to my left foot. I have now been refered to the rhumatoidology clinic. Finally getting some place. They first say that I have psiriasis arthitis, but then then make a more general diagnosis by saying that I have R negative arthritis. We find that Indometicin helps to keep it under control but I am told that this is not a long term solution. by the end of Feb it has gone again. Now into May and it makes a suprise appearance as previously it has appeared always in November. Again it has switched feet now back in my right foot. This time I started taking the indometacin straight away which stops it from getting too bad but we are into June and it's still there. So what are my symptoms? The pain moves around my foot. Sometimes it can move accross my foot at a rate of 1 toe every 2 days. Other times it will hang around one or 2 toes. They go very red and hot and it feels like bad brusing or even dislocation the pain is so bad. I have had to use cruches thankfully only on a few occations, but getting shoes on is difficult. One frustration is that I keep on being told different things. I have been told that if you have arthritis then you have it all the time. It doesn't come and go and it doesn't switch locations. So what is it that I have? Nobody is giving me a proper answer. Anything that any of you can suggest would be so helpful as I could really do with someone to talk to about this. Many thanks Martin
