hi lynn, to be honest dont feel too bad since been on enbrel, all my esr and crp levels are normal, but i think its the combo of RA, meds and shift work that makes me so so tired! sometimes i sleep in my breaks at work! work and managers dont understand if i say im tired all i get is i work same shifts as u and so am i! because im now walking better they see me as fit for anything! i dont sllep too well at night, bit of a light sleeper, but the week just gone up at 4.30am for 7 days, straight onto nights tonight for 5 days meaning starting at 10pm and to bed at 7am this week!! wot help is out there for us that can work full time still as work dont seem interested, can i change working hours etc, but scared if i say something il get the sack which i cannot afford, im only 37??

Hi Ant and Lynn. I work full time and by Friday I am exhausted. I try to get to bed by 9.30pm most nights, if I stay up later than I feel so awful the next day. Some days are harder than others. I am beginning to accept that this is what is happening to me but it is hard when you hear other people at work saying what they do in their spare time etc., Me.........its work, housework and bed. LOL You all take care xx

Hi Ant
I work fulltime as a nurse so work shifts like you..I am on my feet all day so by the time l get home l am dropping...cant afford to work less hours as have mortgage and family to support.
My Ra nurse says l should try and pace myself and ensure l take regular breaks easier said than done!!
Do you work for a large company? As they are meant to make reasonable adjustments under the disability discrimination act.Do you have a occupational health nurse you could see at work.
You are doing alot of shifts in a row no wonder your so tired..hope you manage to work something out Ant keep us posted.

hi lisa, yes i work for quite a large company, britvic soft drinks! we have a separate health care company that deals with all our sicknes but from wot ive seen in the past if you are off with stress or a mental condition then they will bend over backwards to giv u the time off u require and not rush u back to work, some people have up to 6 months off! but if it is a physical condition then they try to rush u back as quick as possible! dont make any sense! i work 3 wks then get a week off but we cram all our hours into the 3 working weeks then i spend my week off recovering!! when i do have a day off, sometimes after my shot of enbrel as i get an upset belly i always offer to pay the time back!! think i need to speak to a solicitor or cab! cheers for all ur help guys!!

Hi Ant, I am on Cimzia and suffer with really bad fatigue, especially after injection days. Ironically, it is supposed to help with the fatigue.

it is a good idea to ensure your GP checks your haemoglobin. arthriti sufferers are prone to anaemia. Last time I saw my rheumy he said I was so tired that it couldn't just be arthritis so I have now been diagnosed with secondary fibromyalgia. However, it turns out I am anaemic and no one had checked it even though I had it just a year ago.

I have spells of extreme fatigue and my GP keeps saying its "some sort of virus" but cant say more.

The "virus" keeps me off work for months at a time as I am unable to do anything.

Similar to what I have now and the GP dismisses it.

My Rhumy is supposed to be good from other peoples views but as its hard to get appointments or him to do anything then I will keep suffering.

Just make sure you have a comfy bed

Yup - Got PA - On Enbrel - Working wonders on joints, just the bloody fatiuge that causes the biggest prob for me now. Enbrel has had an impact on my fatuigue but only minimal amounts. I'm up at 6AM to be in work for 8AM, finish at 5, home by 6 to 6:30, bed by 9, 9:30. I get three hours a day to do my own thing and guess what?.. that is spent cooking food in the kitchen, eating it, washing up, watching quick bit of TV before i nod off or hit the hay. That's my working life. Weekends (if I get a good nights sleep) are usually not so bad (i guess cos im not stressed and having to work ect). Oh well, part and parcel I guess (chin up and get on with it). Aging, like most of us say - knowbody understands the condition so dont expect help elsewhere! Not even my other half understands. Oh well, chin up people and keep up the battle.
