Subject: Pregancy and Rheumatoid Arthritis

I'm 22 and really want to start a family in the not to distant future, but i'm terrfied about how my fianc and i will cope with my illness and a baby.

Ive never been in remission and i'm worried i'll never be able to raise a family and enjoy it properly in my condition. I've always got pain and the more i do the worse it gets (obviously) so looking after a young baby right now isn't viable, but i want it to be.

What i really want to know is what it's like being pregnant with arthritis? What was it like after having your baby and how did you cope with raising your child whilst managing your condition?

Hi, I know exactly what you are going through, I have RA too, and I thought I was never going to be able to start my family, but thanks God, I had twins and 0 complications during my pregnancy. What is for sure is that you have to be a little bit better with your RA, when I was trying to conceive I was on prednicorten, and I was kept on it through all the pregnancy, its also known that pregnant women are a lot better during that period, that is, witouht pain, after deliver your baby discuss with your Doctor, what medicines are right for you.... my twins are 3 years now, and Im in treatment, with embrel and metrotexate.

Good luck and dont be worried at all, during pregnancy is when you are going to feel better...

Hi,

I have had RA since the age of 2 and fell pregnant unexpectantly at 20. I am now 28 and I am not going to lie to you it is difficult but with support and understanding from youur partner and family...it can be done. It was difficult when my son was a baby due to the constant lifting and bending etc. The most important thing i will say to you is always ask for help if you are struggling, I wouldnt at first as I didnt want to admit to myself that I was struggling.

I now am a single mum, work full time and again it is hard. At the moment I am having a really bad flare up but my son is absolutely brilliant. he is 7 now and understands when i am in pain and it has made him a very sensitive and patient little boy. He helps me when its bad and will help with small tasks around the house.

Just thought I would drop you a line to let you know that although its difficult...it isnt impossible.

Lucy

There are many remedies out there for arthritis and many of them claim to give pain relief. Looking at them every one has its use but one seems to work psoritic arthritis and that is Elmore Oil. Google it and I'm sure you can read about it. It is 100% natural and rubbed on the areas. I use it on my joints and my wife uses it for her neuralgia.
