Hi, I found out i had this when i was 21 basically i had alot of pain at the time in my finger joint and hip i went to the doc's and was referred to the hospital. I was put on Sulphazine and was on them for around a year and the pain just stopped. So i stopped taking them and had 9 years of pain free. Then mid last year i noticed pains in my back, shoulder and hip i just carried on as i play alot of sport and just thought it would go away but no i had all the pain still in back, shoulder, hip. Then my right ankle blew up and i was referred back to the hospital. Back on sulphazine again been 3 months now the pain is reducing but tbh it's been a kick in the ....! i'm only 30 but some days feel much older lol. Sorry if i've gone into detail but that's my re-active story so far! Just hoping it goes again soon and i'll have another few years pain free fingers crossed.

hi kazzie, i got reactive arthritis after having a bad throat infection! sounds mad but you can also get it from food poisoning and std, mine hasnt gone thou, i was in the minority where it stays, had rheumatoid arthritis for 3 years now and was told yesterday i need a hip replacement, gutted, only 37, it took the doctors a while to diagnose me so hence i wasnt given the proper treatment early enough. hope ive helped with ur question. x

Hello. I have just come across this forum. For 6 weeks now I have been suffering from hot, red and swollen right ankle along with swollen, stiff and painful right hand and fingers. The GP prescribed me antibiotics and anti inflamms whilst running tests. My RA factor is negative (for what that is worth) but I had a bad throat infection 2 weeks prior to all this starting?? I have a rheumatologist appt tomorrow so can ask then but cannot help worrying that walking and doing simple tasks with my right hand will become a permanent problem. I am sorry to hear that you all have joint issues too.
