Subject: DLA

Five years ago i had issues with my back. It took two years to be referred to the hospital. I had one injection in spine to ease pain, this helped somewhat treatment had to stop as i had a couple of faints test revealed i needed pacemaker. A week later job done. Back to my consultant for my back after two more guided injections, it was decided back surgery would be the answer. Okay SCARED to say the least. Surgery done! It cured pain in my leg and buttock. I have a dead patch in my left leg but this is a price you may have to pay. My continuing back ache is awful have been told by my consultant we cannot fix everthing. I am now facing injections in my shoulder and wrist. It seems i have arthiritis creeping everywhere. I find the pain some days is totally depressing.

When i applied for disability allowance i was given the low rate of 18 something a week as it seeems they only took into account my shoulder issue. Can anyone tell me what do I have to do to make these people understand.

I will try anything they suggest.I was in tears from the pulling and poking. I said to my daughter and hubby thats another hurdle i jumped over, they saw the funny side I should be so lucky. Well keep smiling every one its a good tonic and i find it stops people running the other way when they see you coming. So glad i found this site.

Hey honey. The key thing with DLA is do not assume they understand ANYTHING. Make sure you fill out your form as your worst day. Write down everything that you experience. It might help to link with Citizen's Advice to help you with your form.

Hello Davina My knee is swollen not too bad! I have a toe that is arched rather than flat it painful to say the least. My back pain from the slipped disc is murder. When i went to physio she told me that as the surgery settled the siatica in my right leg this is classed as a good result.I have never been to physio before I see my rheumy guy on monday and i am going to tell him the pain i was in after physio didnt do me much good. The physio told me she can cure all my pain. I only wish this was true. I have never heard anyone else tell me this they have all told me than can help me control the pain. Some days i feel like some people have no idea how i feel. I have read a lot of post on this site and it seems i am not alone. Well its nearly midnight and i still cant sleep. I am going to phone CAB hoping they may be able to advise me and then I am going to phone DLA to look at my claim again. Thanks for your support all and every one.

hi honey my aunt has a slip disk and had sugery and was told that physio would cure her pain, but it has done nothing, if anything it made it worse on te days she had it. it would be lovely to had a magic cure. like gaynor said you have to tell dla your worse days are every day or they think that your not that bad. just mention everything that is wrong.
