Subject: R.A and DLA
Hi, I am new to this forum and just need some advice here please :-) I was diagnosed Rheumatoid Arthritis when I was 12 and now being 21 I have just been advised that I should apply for DLA by my doctor and also my works OH. I got help filling in the forms from a benefits advisor through our council and received a letter today to say they were getting a report from my consultant. Am I right in thinking that most times they deny your DLA on your first attempt? I'm not looking for the care side of things as I still live with my parents and get a lot of help but it's more the mobilty side of things as this has affected me on my day to day activities and I have had to give up a lot of normal things a 21 year old would do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I wasn't even aware I would be entitled to this at all until a few months ago!

Amy I'm an oldie compared to you but age should not come into it for DLA ;0) I was refused the 1st time and was also refused at the Tribunal. The Citizens Advice filled out my 2nd application and I got it with a letter from my GP . Good Luck ;0)
