Subject: finger fusion

I am in my twenties and have traumatic arthritis of DIP on middle finger. I am thinking about fusion but I am worried about the strain it might put on other joints in that finger. I dont' want those joints to become arthritic anytime soon given my age. Just wondering if anyone else has experience with DIP fusions?
