i have giant cell arteritis, as well as diabeties, and osteo arthritis, is there anyone else out there that has giant cell. and or polymalgia reuhmatica, thanks.

Hi Margaret. No but I have Diabetes type 2 , Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis. I have read that PR can cause arteritis. Does the pain affect mainly your shoulders and hips ? Hope someone can come along to talk more ;0)

hello, kayjay, yes with pr i do have intense pain across shoulders an hip, but more shoulders, mobility is very poor, i also have type two diabetes and am on tablets and insulin four times a day, i was on high steriods which made the insulin levels go sky high. the arterites affects my sight when i am having a bad episode. i am 68 yrs of age, thanks for the reply

Margaret sorry to hear how much you are suffering. Yes Steroids makes the blood sugar go rocketing. They can even badly affect someone who isn't Diabetic. The junior Rheumatologist gave me a systemic one a few months ago and when I checked my sugar it was sky high !! He didn't even tell me to expect this [ as a diabetic ] I had to find out that through a Diabetes forum. It must be very difficult for you as I think? that Steroids are used for pr and arteritis ? The Consultant Rheumatologist dosen't want me to have them because of the Diabetes. If you want the link to the Diabetes forum I'm on I will gladly provide it [ it's very informative and the peeps on there are so nice ] ;0)

hello, thanks for the reply. i am on the 'nhs' forum if that is the one you are reffering too, and i am on the forum of 'pr' and giant cell 'north east'. it is difficult to tell sometimes where the pain and discomfort and lack of mobility is coming from.as cervical spondylosis . i am not on steroids now, and am coping with just pain killers. the steroids left me with very bad inflammation of the legs, and i am taking zo morph and amtripoline for that. did i read that you have both oestio an rheumatoid arthritis together?, i have a friend who has the two conditions and also the 'pr'. my daughter sarah is gettinbg married tomorrow, all arranged in just two weeks., happy days. thanks again margaret.

Hi Margaret [ my Mum's name ! ] I was referring to the Diabetes forum I'm on its called DIABETES SUPPORT FORUM UK. Yes OA then Fibromyalgia and last March was diagnosed with RA. Good luck with your daughters marriage [ I've also got a daughter called Sarah ! ] . My eldest daughter was married last month and my feet were so painful I couldn't make it to the night time reception - I'm gutted about that. Yes indeed - happy days - wish the happy couple good luck from me.

i will look up the support group up on he internet, thanks. wsedding went off very well, they are in austria on honeymoon, and i have morgan the whippet pup for the two weeks, he just runs around in the garden as i cannot walk him. thanks margaret,
