Subject: pain relief
anybody out there know of any pain killer that dont cause drowsiness.my doc wont give me anything else other than tramadol cos i drive for a living.i could do with something that kicks in straight away

I think most pain relief potentially causes drowsieness but like all meds, take everyone differently. The Only pain med I've found to cause it for me is codine and I've also been on dihydracodine, Tramadol, neurontin and gabapentin to name a few and had no problems. Currently on morphine and Only found first few doses made me drowsy and now i'm fine. I hope you get a solution. Go well X

YOU COULD TRY ONE TRAMADOL TOGETHER WITH ONE PANADOL .. that sometimes works better.

i think i wrote it wrong.im on tramadol now and it doesnt make me drowsey even tho i take 8 a day but i need something a can take 1st thing in the morning and it starts to work straight away.i asked about morfine but the doc said i cant have that cos i drive for a living.

There is aparently other opiate based drugs like tramadol and morphine which are stronger than tramadol but my doc wouldnt give me them as you can get used to them! Like you im stuck for something when i need it to kick in quick as tramadol is useless now! Sorry i cant help x

hope you get an answer that helps. i have intense pain with polymalgia rhuematica and also neuropathy, i take zo morph and amtripoline, tramadol made me feel very sick, i dont feel like this with either of these two medications, however zo moprph does help me sleep at night.

Margaret, i'm suprised the amitriptyline doesn't make you sleep! I take 200mg at night and am often comatosed lol X

hello abbie, i only take a small dose of 10mg at night. just enough to relax me to enable me to sleep, not a very high dose at all, i take it with the zo morph an hour before going to bed.

Phil I take Co-codomal for my OA which the strength is 500MG as I cannot Iubrophen, with me having Asthma and under active thyroid.

I am on co- codomal, that does not seem to help me , it just dulls its a bit. I up most of the night with pain, my GP won't give me nothing, I had to get the co - codomal from my Rhummy.. I am in pain as I am writing, epson salts help bath helps for about an hr then it come back.

Im on Zomorph..(opiates) doesnt cause drowsiness in me....but we all react differntly to drugs ... ask for Patches....(Transtec patches)...they r stronger than Tramodol.....goood luck
