Subject: Really getting me down

These aches and pains are really really getting me down. And I seem to take it out on everyone , ie family, and of course none of them are to blame.
My meds dont seem to be doing anything for me and I feel I am never out the docs surgery complaining. Suppose I'll just need to carry on and get on with it.

I was just going to post a similar situation. Ive been on 20mg of mtx for almost 6 months now and at first it worked wonders taking my bloods right down but now they are all sky high again.
I asked doc for better pain relife than tramadol and was given codine... Yes codine! Both of which do naff all for the pain so yet again im going in today to ask for better pain killers.
I was also due to see rummy this month and havnt got an appointment so rang this morning to be told they are slightly behind and will get one when i get one!!!!! Im less than amused!
So dont worry as we all go through bad times, your family will ether understand that already or will learn to. In the mean time you can let off steam on here :)

You need to get seen by a rheumatologist, I was in the exact same position till I started seeing mine and a couple of months down the line I'm feeling much better, u still have really bad days when i am in toatal agony but at least it's not everyday like it was, don't get to down there is light at the end of tunnel, I used to think I was gonna be in pain everyday for the rest of my life and no one gud convince me otherwise, kirstine have you tried the butrans patches for your pain? Ask your doc about them, I was given codeine and tramadol an both had little affect on my pain, iv been on the patches for almost a week and they seem to be workin wonders so far,

Is this the same curtis that was at the lowest of the low not that long ago? If so, good for you!!! I'm pleased to hear a much more positive, updeat attitude. And I'm pleased to hear your obviously tackling it head on.

And Sharon, your family will understand, I'm sure - if the tables were turned would you be understanding? Make sure to let them know how grateful you are of their support though! And who cares if you're always at the doctors - that's what they get paid bucket loads for.

Keep perservering, you'll get there, and like Curtis said, you'll still have bad days but they won't seem as bad or as often.

KEEP POSITIVE EVERYBODY

I am really sorry the meds are not working as well as they were in the beginning. Sad but true that the traditional medications patients are given only take away the symptoms, the disease itself is still happening underneath. I think it's a terrible circumstance where doctors continue down the same path expecting a different outcome when it's the patients who feel the pain when it stops working. May I gingerly suggest you look at the alternatives & in the meantime try to find something that will reduce the inflammation & ease the pain to manageable; look at reducing gluten, dairy, sugar, preservatives etc because these do contribute to inflammation.

It would be nice to have a magic wand but we don't so it's also up to us to help ourselves & be proactive in our choices of treatment.

I really do hope you find something that helps soon,
Maz
