Subject: Early signs of RA from my farther? Advice needed

Hi everyone, im a 27 year old who until recently havenāt thought about whether im getting RA. My father who is now 49 was diagnosed with RA in his early thirties. Since then he has had both knees and a hip changed and has badly flared joints. Ive always known from an early age that RA is hereditary. Since an early age i have always feel fatigued but it seems to be getting worse. Its now getting to a point im losing my concentration at work and forgetting a lot of things. Ive been to the doctors and done tests and everything checks out. I was even told thereās no signs of RA from the blood tests. Im an active person playing sport 3 times a week and i walk to work everyday etc... So i donāt know what is causing this tiredness, i try cutting down the sport and i feel even worse. The other signs is my hips, both sides are starting to click when i get out of bed, almost like when they have been in one position for a while and you move it would click. Any advice would be great, thanks

YS I think you can still have the symptoms of RA but show normal in the blood tests. I started with Fibromyalgia 1st and that makes a person very tired as well. What they should go on is your symptoms and not rely wholly on blood tests. Are you anaemic and have you actually seen a Rheumatology Consultant ? as it may be another type of Arthritis ? so best see a specialist.

The fatigue sounds to me more like Fibro than RA at this stage but being so active you could have developed OA (as well or instead). I agree with KayJay that you should be making an appt to see a rheumatologist asap to hopefully get a conclusive diagnosis & sort it out. I believe Fibro patients have a lot of trouble concentrating & get extremely tired as well.

Blood tests indicating a positive RF factor is only an indication for purposes of diagnosis of arthritis not a definite. (Just as an aside my tests came back at RF negative for 1-3/4 yrs then suddenly jumped to 260 & is now down to 32 at last test)
