Subject: It has returned

Last year I was told I had inflammatory arthritis but at the turn of this year it totally dissappeared, I was well chuffed to say the least.
Well over the last month or so it has started to creep back and this morning I am in total agony.
Only thing for it is to start up my medication again.

Hi Sharon,

You were probably going through an inactive spell. Arthritis once you hve it dosnt go away as it is incurable, it can go through active and inactive spells.

You need to get an appointment with a rheumatologist who can help manage the arthritis with the correct pain meds as well as medicaion to slow down the deterioration in the joints the disease causes.

I have had RA now for 28 years since teh age of 2. The disease is unpredictable but you can live your life to the fullest you can as long as you get teh correct medication and support.

This forum is full of lovely people who will give you as much support as they can so dont hesitate to ask anything you want to

Take Care

I can back up what Lucy said! Some people can go into 'remission' but I dont think that happens very often! Good luck Sharon. Hope you can get it sorted.

I was on sulphasalazine and naproxen for it and my rheumatologist told me if my symptons subsided then he was happy for me just to stop them. Have started taking the naproxen again but dont want to start the other before I speak to my doctor incase I need blood taken first.
Yeah I realise that it doesnt totally go away, for me to say it had dissappeared was probably the wrong term for me to use. Just wishful thinking!
