Subject: Swollen arthritic joint
Hi, does anyone know how you can reduce the swelling of an arthritic joint like an ankle? It is not always painful, but it does not look good having one thick and one thin ankle and I find that people are always asking me if it is not sore because it is so badly swollen. Thanks, Ina

Hi Ina. Yeah my ankles look like that, however I wear trousers all the time so it's no problem to me how they look. I also have to wear an Orthotic laced ankle brace as well because of ather in the left ankle. Have you tried an ice pack ? ask the GP though 1st if it will be ok for you.

Hi Ina, my left leg is a lot bigger than my right so i wear trousers constantly,i have tried ice wrapped in a tea towel to try reducing swelling, it does'nt do much to be honest, but does help if the joint is hot.
