Subject: Feeling ill On Plaquenil ?

Felt really crap last few days with sore throat . Thought I had a cold coming on but apart from a few sneezes nothing else has developed. Started Plaquenil beginning March - could it be this that's making me feel like this ? Also err how can I put this ? well when I go out I have to make sure I am near a toilet !! Could also be the Iron tablets which I started not long after the Plaquenil.

i was on plaquenil for years and started about 1 year ago to have really bad itching attacks lasting hours and also started being sick a lot.
Soon as i decided (not my Doc) to come off the plaquenil i was instantly better.

Not sure if it is the cause of your sore throat but worth a look at the side effects on your tablet box/or medication note.

Hope you feel better soon,

regards

Paul

HI kj I had my bladder repaired nov 2002...text book...best op ever, however, I do know that feeling, looking and knowing that u r near a loo, do u usually feel like that or since the meds? KJ btw last nite had a terrible attack of GB, yet another ambulance, (excuse this guys) but vomiting up bile, first time ever, was inm given 2 morphine jabs, and an anti spasm injection! scared to eat now...was my fault tho, cos i ate some brown bread with peanut butter, thing was, I had just dished up the kids raost dinner, and that was what i had instead.....all was ok, until 10pm, and woke up in severe agony, thought my intestines were going to split...so scared...,anyway, wasnt in long, bout 5 hours or so in a&e, and then a poor man died in resus....blimey what the heck is going on with me!....anyway, lifes touch I know, but I do hope othgers can give u the ansa u need(LOL I know all about the Incontenence issues, the examinations prior to op and the op recovery LOLOL get well soon x

Jill thanx. It's not the bladder err it's the other one !! Trots [ or number 2's ] I think is the best way of describing it !!

Sorry to hear about the GB. It's a classic sign of GB stones when the excruciating pain comes on a few hours after eating. It used to wake me up about 2am - I took really strong painkillers [ can't remember the name now ] but I think they have been withdrawn now. Why the hell don't they just take it out ? it's disgraceful in this day and age when they are making you wait so long !! Are you still taking the PPI'S ? A+E are not the best place to be spending the early hours of the morning in are they ? You see some very distressing scenes. We sort of got used to it when Mum used to have frequent trips there before her diagnosis.

Paul thanx also. Did Plaquenil make your RA symptoms any better ? as you say you were on it for years.

Kay, I get what you describe all the time and am on Mtx, always thinking I am coming down with something. Must be the drugs. Or maybe the disease....? Bloomin' nuisance.

Yeah that's a good point. Is it the disease or the meds ? Although I don't think the one I'm on is a strong one anyway ? [ not compared to MTX etc ].

Sally my Rhummy says MTX does make people feel unwell for days after taking it, and tied also, but like yours said, 'its the disease'....so its like we get a double dose of sickyness and tiredness! mind u, took my Enbrel and MTX yest, feel fine, no side affects accept tiredness, hate feeling nauseus(how the heck is that word spelt?) tc x

Hi Kev thanks !! Glad to hear you have no problems with it. Has it eased the pain at all ? Must say I havn't felt a huge difference yet. But you don't really know if it would have been worse without it do we ? Got to see the Rhumie Nurse next Tuesday for blood results etc. I just wish the GP would have given me the iron tablets for Anemia sooner but they seemed reluctant to do that at first until the Rheumi Consultant told me I really needed them.

Jill - sorry I got it mixed up with the wee wees !! No it's the other one >:( Horrible !! It comes and goes will mention it to the Nurse on Tuesday. But like I say it might be the Iron Tablets or the Paquenil ?? Who knows. At least I'm keeping the toilet paper people in busines !! Doing my " bit " for the economy LOL

Hi Verity wow that must have been scary for you when you were so young. Mine was about 15 years ago and yes it's VERY painful. Had to take those Distal Gesics [ spelling could be wrong ] anyway they were very strong painkillers - think they have been withdrawn now. They were really prescribed for my Mum but they were a godsend at the time. I know we shouldn't take other peeps tablets but you sort of get desperate when we are in pain !!

Glad to hear you are not feeling too bad I wish we could all feel like that permanently. You can't really plan ahead can you with this disease as you don't know if you will feel okay or not months hence ? My oldest daughter gets wed in June so I'm hoping I will be okay for then. She's getting married in Whitby and we live in Sheffield so I'm not looking forward to the travelling. We shall see. xx
