Subject: feeling at rock bottom tonight

Sorry to moan everyone but am feeling really down. My plans for the weekend are all over the place - because of this ***** illness I can't arrange anything with any certainty. Tried to visit friends out of London tonight by train but when I got to the station they said I would have to take a tube and then a bus and another bus and a walk to get there as there are works on the line. Came home as in pain. Said I would drive up tomorrow but to be honest I don't feel like it. Don't think my friends understand how things that I used to do so easily are so difficult now. Right now I feel so isolated and fed up. The drugs aren't working yet, my knees are really swollen tonight as are my wrists. How on earth am I going to drive tomorrow for 2 hours? That will wipe me out in itself. Really struggling at the moment. Just don't think I want to live my life like this. I've got no-one to support me at home or discuss things with. It's just too hard.

(((Sally))) My heart goes out to you and the way your feeling I won't say 'cheer up' coz it's not that easy. I had the same thought as the others about your friend coming to you it sounds like you need to be round people right now. If your friends aren't able to come to you do you have people you can see over the weekend? I know what it's like when your giving meds a go. It's frustrating because you want to know like yesterday If they're gonna work or not. Going through it myself at the mo with mtx injections. Anyway I hope you've managed to sleep tonight and please check in with us as to how you are and what you're doing over the weekend. More hugs (((Sally))) XXX

Thanks for your support. Didn't go in the end as had to accept am having a flare up and can't drive for that long. My friends understood. They've got young children so it's too difficult for them to come and see me. Too bad that I also turned down an invitation for lunch tomorrow as thought I would be away. Knew it was going to be hard waiting for the mtx to kick in but didn't realise quite how hard. Feel so totally frustrated that can't do a fraction of what I used to do and feel so useless. Hope it starts to work soon.

Hi Sally,

Please know we know how you feel and you can always come on here if you need to chat or just have a rant and get things off your chest.

It is hard socially when we are in such pain. I too am having a bad time a the min and am hobbling about due to my horrible hips. Just hoping when ive had the left one replaced on the 28th April things will improve. My son keeps asking what we are doing over easter and I cant do much at all as I cant put any weight on my blimming leg.

Try to stay positive and arrange things at yours if you can I know its hard when people have kids but if you arrange in advance it should be a lil easier. I have arranged a pamper evening at mine with a few friends and slowly buy surely as they see how badly i'm hbbling around they understand that they will have to come to me for the time being.

Try arranging take away night or dvd nighs. I know its boring and frustrating but it is better than being isolated as that gets you down.

How old are you hun if you dont mind me asking? x

Hey Sally, bein on youre own is totally shit coz youre left alone with your brain working overtime. I think it was a good decision to not go today though. Just the thought of doing that in a flare up fills me with dread. Do ya have any pets? I used to live on my own for about 3 yrs and was very depressed as I could hardly do anything. Its horrible.

Are you on facebook?

Take care hun, thinkin of ya : )

I've got a cat Verity. She is good company but unfortunately not very good at helping me make decisions :) She would have me home all day, every day and be sitting on my lap! You are right though, I did make the right decision and really am going to rest today. Going to dinner tomorrow night and spoke to friends about rearranging tomorrow's lunch in a couple of weeks time. I've got quite a few friends really Lucy, just organising things can be difficult when you don't know how you're gonna be. Problem is, when you are on your own, if you don't go out you don't see people. I'll survive, just feeling a bit sorry for myself today.

i've got two cats both Maine Coons, one "Sir Henry" we found as a stray in a bad way and took him in and the other "Pearl" was unwanted so we took her in from a Maine coon rehoming website.
Sir Henry was amazing when i was off work for 1.5 years with arthritis, its as if he knew the pain i was in and kept me company all the time and was very gentle. Pearl however doesn't give two monkeys and jumps on me at 0500hrs in the morning when she wants feeding and bullys me until i get up at 0600hrs... as long as she has food she does not care one jot but she's very gentle and cuddly with my wife since she became pregnant. LoL

Well, I should have started a thread called 'Cats'!
Mine is called Lola (after The Kinks) and is a real minx, steals my earrings and bats them around the floor. Sir Henry is a great name, Paul, how did you come up with that? Rice is a great name for a Rat too! Lots of people in your house Jill, must be quite crowded in there lol!

I'm feeling a bit happier today but have come down with a temperature - maybe what has been wrong with me all weekend.....? Should be taking mtx tonight, not sure whether to or not. Often feel a bit fluey but then it doesn't turn into anything. how are you all?

Paul you lucky thing 2 Maine Coons. They are real sweeties. I've got my old black tom Felix. No teeth and cauliflower ears. I lost my beautiful Blue eyed White last November we got her the same time as Felix. I was heartbroken and still miss her like crazy, her name was Sheba. She used to know when I was fed up as she would follow me everywhere and purr. She was blind at the end and I had to nurse her...... Oh dear I can feel the tears welling up.

Anyway - new life, we have also got a female about 2 yrs old. She's called Mouse and she loves to leave me her little conquests - mice outside the door - yuk.

Luving the name of your's " Sir Henry " ;0)

The story why he's called Sir Henry is a tad gruesome, remember Henry the viii and what he did with his wives.. well Sir Henry being a stray when he first moved in used to bring us back presents such as large rabbits and then would kill them (thats the Henry viii part) and then have a feast.
Doesn't do it anymore thank god :-) but he did bring a Mallard duck (a male one) in to our bedroom at 3 in the morning. We are about half a mile from the canal and he must have got it from there, dragged it through the cat flap, up the stairs and in to our bedroom. I chased him downstairs and we managed to catch the duck trying to fly around the conservatory and checking it was ok released it. It was massive too, no idea how he managed that.

Maine coons are great cats, very big and clever.

Theres a great website for rehoming of maine coons:

http://www.maine-coon-cat-club.com/rescue/

only 2 on there at the moment but Gill sends out a email every few weeks with updates if you contact her.

Hi Kay, it breaks your heart when you lose a pet. My last cat died about a year ago and still feel sad about her. I get rats bought to me - lovely!

Wev'e not had rats Sally - yet anyway. We live near a river so I suppose it may happen !! Not far from the floods that happened in Sheffield the other year. Sheba used to bring me earth worms !! Used to be all lined up on the doorstep for when I opened the door in the morning. HaHa and she once had a frog in her mouth with it's legs dangling down each side of her mouth and from a distance it looked just like she had a huge drooping moustache !! I managed to rescue said frog - I hate seeing any animal hurt. Oh I do miss her.

Has anyone heard of a Cat that doesn't not Purrr ? Our younger female is Purr less !! She does make like a funny noise in her throat when she wants something though.

Our Pearl does not purr but she does make a chirping sound, like a bird (hope she's not swallowed one).

Ooooh thanks Paul. Might just have to have a look there !! Sir Henry sound like a proper kick a** Tom !! A Duck !! ???

We used to have a Siamese and he was a sweetie too, but could be quite vicious with other cats and people he didn't know.

Not all cats are purr fect lol! My kitten has only just started to purr and she is nearly a year old.

I haven't had the pleasure of earth worms yet but Lola eats anything that looks like a worm - wool, string, that stretchy wrapping tape, dental floss (she fishes it out of the bathroom bin.) So far, no ill effects but won't be long before I'm rushing her to the vet with strangled intestines!
