Hi Sally
Remember to make sure you show what youd struggle with when youre at your worst. I felt quite ok when mine came round so had to try and think whats the worst when im feeling bad. Luckily she was helpful with suggestions but theyre not all like that!
Im quite excited about havin bits changed inthe house!

Good luck! x

Thanks very much. I'm on higher dose of steroids right now so can manage a bit better so not best time for an assessment. Will try and think it through a bit.

hi Verity, thanks for asking. She was ok, a bit reluctant to do anything at first. Also, I had a systemic steroid injection at the clinic a couple of days before so wasn't nearly as bad as usual. She is sending some gadgets around and also recommending some changes to the bathroom and the outside security gate plus locks. She measured everything just in case I have a flare up and need things adjusting. She told me that I could have had emergecy help last summer when I was crippled with pain - I got quite annoyed and said how rubbish I think the self referral system is. I didn't think I could get help and was also always thinking I would get better - fat chance as it turns out!

At least I am in the system now. I'll see what gadgets she sends lol!

how are things with you?

Hi Sally! Im Ok thanks. Why do we only find out that help is available after we need it! I had to buy it myself, but those jar lid opener things that you just press the button is really useful.
My consultant used to tell me that I would grow out of the arthritis. Personally I think that growing out of it is a myth! A myth that rheumatologists tell people to make them feel better about themselves but ultimately have to deal with, just later on.

Glad youre feeling a little better with the steroid injection, lets hope it lasts eh!

Take care xx

Hi Verity, glad everything ok. I might get one of those jar openers, got a good grips one but you stil have to turn it. Not good when your wrists are weak and painful!

I've never heard of anyone growing out of arthritis though it would be nice if they did. I trained as a nurse many years ago and, in those days, they didn't tell patients when they had terminal illnesses! Unbelievable really and upsetting for them and relatives when they didn't understand why they weren't getting better. Personally, I would rather know what I've got to deal with so I can organise my life to manage it better.

Steroids are great but side effects not so. But it is nice to be able to do stuff again.
S xx
