Subject: Trouble Using a Kettle?

Hi everyone, I'm looking to find out what difficulties anyone has had using a kettle or any other kitchen appliances when suffering with arthritis or fibromyalgia.

I'm a university student from Scotland and I'm designing a new kettle which doesn't need to be lifted and poured, making it much more user friendly for ALL users.

Can anyone help me by describing the difficulties/problems they encounter using a kettle (or any other appliance) that I should be trying to overcome for the design? However big or small the difficulties may be?

All inputs will be much appreciated, thanks

hi Stewart, I dunno if youve seen these but we had the earlier model of this at work and it was wonderful not to have to pour to kettle. Something like this that isn't so expensive would be good!!

hi there, thanks for replying.. yeah i've done my research on these products and I'm using a similar idea.

The issue with these though is that they could be a difficulty to fill with water as with standard kettles if you have to carry it back and forth from the sink. Is this the case?

Yeh Id say thats the only problem with them. But unless you have it plumbed in to the mains I can't see a way round it?? Any ideas?

lol that's what I've been struggling with.. well one idea is to have a small light-weight jug with two large handles that can be easily attached to the kettle. It wouldn't hold any more than 1 litre of water to keep it light...

any other suggestions are welcome!

You could design an easily attachable pipe that goes on the end of the tap and into the kettle? Would have to be ded easy to attach though or it would defeat the object lol
