Subject: Ankylosing Spondylitis

Hey I was diagnosed 5 years ago and am in a bad stage. I get ill all the time my immune system has packed up - I had my tonsils taken out then my appendix burst now my wisdom teeth are being removed. I am always sick! I am so fed up with it but to make it worse people treat me like there is nothing wrong with me?! WHat because you cant see it or because im still quite young? I cant remember the last time i had a day without pain and im pretty resiliant to pain! What can you do to get the respect the condition deserves from people...especially in the work place???

Hi Louisa, I bet its really frustrating and also stressful trying to keep up with everyone else if they treat you as if theres nothing wrong. Have you had your doctor give a report to your workplace about your condition? When I first started where I am now they wanted a report all about my illness before I started (Although my RA is quite visible in me unfortunately).
You sound pretty unwell at the moment, it must be awful. Do you have a lot of time off work due to illness?
Can I ask how old you are? Im 24.
Take Care x
