I have three types of arthritis: ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, and Reiter's Syndrome. I have had these "devils" for fifty of my sixty years. I have taken every possible drug since 1972. Right now I'm on Enbrel, MTX, and Nabumetone. I was on MTX from 1977 to 2000. I switched to Enbrel then, but lately my right foot has gotten very painful, so my rheumi put be back on MTX.
I try to stay active: socially, athletically, politically, and intellectually. I consider myself very fortunate, but I recognize how bad the US medical system is. I can hardly wait for the "joy" of turning 65 in 3.5 years. I wonder what hidden costs will surface to haunt me. |
