Subject: Trying something different-Given up on DLA

Hi all I've had RA since I was a toddler and have claimed DLA on and off with varying rates of both levels and success.
I have always found the process so hard and degrading. Is it just me or does having a varying condition make it all the more tricky. I took it all the way to tribunal this time and then in the actual tribunal clammed up and said v little.
I just felt so sick and nervous and couldn't think clearly.
I am so sick of begging for help and 'jumping' through hoops to get it. I wondered where other people seek help and support when things are bad, practical and emotional?

Don't give up! Youre entitled to financial help etc Im currently trying again for DLA as I was denied a few years ago. Its people scamming the system that make it so hard. We can't let them win!

I so agree with you Emma the whole process feels so degrading. I to am in the process of going to tribunal.
It must have been awful for you clamming up, but surely they can see beyond that. Hopefully you will get what you are entitled to.
It really pees me off as well having to beg I feel like telling them to shove it, but when i think about it it would really be cutting off my nose to spite my face.
All this stress and emotional stuff is not helping your condition either.
Like Verity says Dont give up.
You could do with a Jill imput, she will put you back on track.
Take Care

Hi Emma..... want you to remember this next time you feel emotional...remember all the ppl on this forum that have had to go to DLA, we ALL felt and feel as u do now.... but guees what? when U DO get that benefit, that U R Very entitled too, you will have a smile on your face all day, and guess what? that Horrible begging feeling leaves Immediately!!!...so look forward to that good feeling OK.... Ive been to the tribunal stage too, Like Angela said, people have all different types of personalitys, some people Cry(I did) LOL, some people dont stop yakkking, and some clam up, they r so experienced in all this that they will Know altho U clammed up, they will know u were nervous, and they also read all the input from the docs ok....people tht see it to the tribunal stage, that tells them LOTS, that U deserve this, and that u r fighting your corner....and its true what Verity said, about the frigging benefit freaks that nick what we rightly deserve!!!...so chin up and U will get what U deserve OK..... put a bet on it.....!! take care Love Jill

Hi Emma,

I felt as you did for many many years as I have had rheumy since age 2 and it is so frustrating that due to our condition fluctuating between bad days and extremely bad days the idiots that process and decide on DLA turn us down time after time again and make us feel like frauds.

I have just been through the process yet again and was successful!!! So please persevere as you deserve and need that benefit.

Take care Lucy

Hi Emma,
Seems I am the only guy on this forum .Regarding your application for DLA it may help to get a professional to fill in your form as they can be very complicated and the civil servants at head office will recognise a professional job and give it more attention.Worth a try.Ask your local C.A.B for help.It worked for me.Good luck and don,t give up.
