Subject: MEMORY FOAM MATTRESSES

Hi all...anyone bought a Memory foam mattress, like the ones Tempur advertise....origionally made for the astronauts in 70s.......my sister has one, and its amazing, your body contours to the mattress, feeels like u r weightless and the tender points r protected...... id ,ove a Tempur one, but they r so expenisive, 2000.00 for kindsize etc.... but i have done a bit of homework and found a place that does the Memory foam, dont mean the Toppers, got one of those, I mean a proper thick memeory foam mattresss.....if anyone on here has bought one specifically becos of their joint pain eetc...please let me know how its made a difference to u...... I will get one, just cant afford this time of year...... any info wld be good thanks Jill x

Ive recently bought a new mattress in the last couple of months. I actually steered away from the memory foam though because the ones I had tried I found I got stuck in the dent I had made! lol My old one was very unsupportive and....well..... knackered, basically! I went for a very thick but firm mattress. Oh my God, its amazing. Its high so I can slide out of bed in the morning and Im finding Im sleeping so much better so getting moving in the morn isn't quite as daunting. I think the right mattress for you is incredibly important. After all we do spend a LOT of time lying on them! lol

My step son has one and loves it. If they are good for joint trouble, I may have to look into this.

Hello all, I bought a memory foam matress because i have Fibromyalgia and my body aches all over. It is great on the joints although my back does be in bits in the morning, I suppose you can't win them all. I have to say it is the best investment ever. Good luck with yours.

Hi Jill,

I have had a Tempur mattress for 3 years and it is the single best investment I have made. With all the problems surrounding arthritis it has helped me enormously and I hate to be without it. I know Tempur is very expensive but for me it is well worth it, the comfort feeling is wonderful. I'm not saying you won't have pain but it is soooo comfortable to not have your bones playing havoc as well as all the joints etc. I would say if there was a way of buying one, don't hesitate. Remember though, that is just my experience!!

hiya well ive slept on two memory foam matresses one that my sister brought a few years ago and cost an absolute fortune and also one not so expensive that my mother in law has and i hated both of them my back is in absolute agony when i wake and because of how i sleep which is sort of on my stomach and side it dips where you lay and i just hate it they do eventually go out of shape as well especially if you are a bit on the large side lol, i suppose it is personal preference just a shame u cant try b4 u buy as my sister hated it and after spending all that money thousands of pounds it ended up in the spare room.

All I want for Crimbo is a Memory Foam Mattress LOL...dont think Santa wld be able to sqwish that down my Chimney tho...!,,,think deciding on which Mattress is a personal thing i guess, plus when we go to a shop to try one out, we cant sleep on them can we? so its a kinda guess.....my Mattress is only 5 years old, was fab until i had my two Hip ops and shoulder ops.... so its not really the Mattress, its my rotten falling apart bod that is the falling apart!! how many of u lie on an extra blanket? I use an extra Duvet and a Memeory Foam Topper, its nice, but still get pain........ anyway gotta go tc J x
