Lisa,

Yeah had my swine flu injection. Side effects a plenty. Swollen arm for 2 days, no prob can cope with that. However joints esp arms and feet, became very stiff and painful overnight, just like a flare-up. Took me several days to get over that and then developed flu symptoms.

Hope you don't suffer the same.

I've not been offered a swine flue jab - I thought I would be but have heard nothing. Should I contact my gp I didnt know if I was entitled to get one. I'm on 20mg methotrexate and just started on sulfasalazine as well so low immune system.

Had my jab a week last Tuesday - arm very swollen, hard and painful for 5 days (nurse did warn arm would hurt but mine was far more reactive than my OH). Started at the weekend with flu like symptoms - no runny nose but very stiff and sore all over - like a flare up.

Was fine with the normal flu jab a few weeks earlier.

Hi everyone!
I have RA and had the swine flu jab a week last Saturday. I had a tender arm for about a week but had no other side effects. Just a little reassurance that it isn't always horrendous if youre making a decision about having it.

Hi All I had both the swine flu jab and the ordinary flu jab done on the same day one in each arm. That was about a month ago. I had slight pain in the arm that got the swine flu jab but that went after two days. No other problems.
By the way I'm not the lynn above and I have RA for over 20yrs.

hi Jill, no it won't be ineffective - you just have to leave at least 3 weeks between them. You may have done it by now but I postponed mine til after xmas (though rather stupidly having it on new year's eve!) Start mtx on jan 4th.

I just thought I would write and say that the swine flu jab doesn't always cause such horrific problems as some of you have experienced. I worried about having mine, having read lots of bad things, but I can honestly say that I forgot all about it the day I had it and felt only mildly sore the next day and then only for about 24 hours.

Hi sally, im having my 2nd one tomoz, thanks for your post, goood luck with the MTX, just a suggestion, take it at bedtime, have a biscuit after ok, until u get use to taking it, takes a little time as u prob know, 8 weeks plus, but stay pos, keep in touch with us all ok, and if ya having probs, let us know....im sure u will be ok, i just feel sicky the day after taking it, but other than that, im fine....most of us r, think its just when u first begin it, u may feel extra tired, so be kind to yourself ok.....Love Jill x

hi Jill, thanks for the tips. Am starting mtx tonight and am a bit nervous so very timely post. I got quite a bit of conflicting advice from leaflet and rheum nurse, she said take it with food, the leaflet said take it one hour after food and the hospital pharmacist said it didn't matter!

Glad to hear you are having the swine flu, I had my second one last wek and hardly even noticed.
Hope you are keeping warm in this freezing weather. I just went outside to look at my new outdoor thermometer and it said -5 and it's only 5pm. Brrr!
