hi newman sorry to hear you having bad side effects frommtx i been taking it for 7 months now i have pa u dont say what kind of side effects u have with mtx i suffered with allsorts when i first started on it from mouth ulcers to dizziness and feeling sick it does get better the longer you are taking it, but it does take about 3 months before it starts to take effect and everytime they alter you dosage the side effects start again but in the long term the good it does out wieghts the side effects i dread to think what i would be like without it as someday i can barely walk as it is. try talking to your gp about anti sickness tablets they do help are you taking it on a night as that helps as well.theres lots of people on here that are taking mtx that will tell you how they deal with taking mtx i am sure, take care and if you need to have a moan or scream and shout this is the place to do it we all have good and bad days and plenty of sleepless night but we all try to be there for each other as i sure you have read

sorry to hear u having such a rough time, u lucky in one way to lost wieght i put it on but thats through being so imobile, i take prochlorperazine one three times a day for sickness take one in morning and one in afternoon day that i take mtx and then for the nxt 3 days it dont stop the feeling of sickness but does actually stop me from being sick ask gp for this and give it a try otherwise when u nxt see rheumy tell them about how much wieght u lost and how bad sickness is effecting your life they might change to injection form soppouse to be better with regards to sickness but i personal dont fancy having to inject myself once a week, what dosage of mtx are u on at min i am taking 25mg now first started on 15mg and was as bad as you then they put it up to 20mg then 4 weeks after that they upped it to 25mg and sickness was bad again but it started to settle down again as for mouth ulcers u can get a ointment from gp that helps tastes horrid though i tried but it made me feel sicker, try bonjela i found that helps, do you feel really tired for few days after taking your mtx i do tend to spend most of second day after taking it feeling like all i want to do is rest but on a good note my pa has improved to how it was before i started on mtx, there is other options out there that you could discuss with the rheumy if you feel mtx is not for you dont give up,you need to be taking something to protect your joints from damage in the long term,if theres anything else you think that i can answer for you i am always looking in even in the middle of the night as sleepless nights seem to go hand in hand with pa takecare of yourself

Hello new man, how are you today? Those meds still making life miserable for you--I expect it will take time for your system to get used to them, so long as they are going to help you get the better of the awful disease and help you get on on with life again is something to keep in mind - easier said than done though isn't it. Try to keep positive, hope you have sun where you are today and are able to get out and enjoy it. Look forward to seeing you back again on this forum. Luv Amber

Hi New Man, Nice positive name I see, Hi gang.... Ok New Man, Shazza there in her post told u everything I wld have said to u too.....I take mine at night im on MTX 17,5 voer two eyrs now, same dose, ive had 5 teeth removed since bein g on MTX, Absesses! we r all different nd our bodies respond differently to others, I know people on MTX that havnt ever had that side afffect of absses, I dont get mouth Ulcers, anhd now even the sicky feeling is gettting tons better....I am also on Enbrel ABTI TNFS Bilogics Injections, its better therapy for me with the two....that med is very Toxic tho, far worse that MTX (I think) anyway, I have felt tones better taking the both, so even if yoyr MTX does not work for u(im sure it will tho) they can give U those meds too... Goood painkillers helps dampen down the pain....Personally I beleive Transtec pain ptaches along with Co codamol work well, tramodol...and I take Zomorph, along with ORAMORPH(liguid morphine) cant drive on that tho, thats for my baddd days, or flare ups.....still get flare ups, but far much less, and dont last as long...........aneya enuff about Me.....this gang in here is fab....we have a moan, a cry, a Giggle(which is best) so often we talk about stufff offf topic......but also there is so much support......I c just now that u have been welcomed...glad to see that, ive been coming in mb 7/8months now...its so helpful, the gals have beeen amazing for me, lufff em all...... I have Inflamatory artharitis, and so far had 7 ops, so im kinda experienced in that side of stuff really lol....ooops im yakkking about me yet again.....sorry.....anyway, any questions, go ahead and ask any of us..... take care
