Subject: Re: Hello - yet another new member
Welcome to the forum Millie.... this process is long and often takes over a year to get a correct diagnosis, its the waiting game im afraid... also the NHS waiting lists beleive me have got tons better over the years, there wasx a time I had to wait 6 months for any first referals to surgeons, rhumatologists etc..... Il be honest, some of us in here, in the past have said the same, that they arnt going to see consultant for a month....I think WOW, I use to wait 6 months.....lately times have got better, even MRI scans Times have got better, use to be a 5 month wait just for that MRI Scan! Ive also waited over 8 weweks just for a regular x ray! honest be positive and Nov will be here b4 u know it, wasnt lecturing you about times, but things have got better time wise....maybe not so in diagnosing your condition, and often reason for that is, is the flare up could easily leave a person, might be one offs for some, so the rhumatologist will often ask us to return say, 3 months later, its heaertwrenching, becos we think OMG thats ages away!! I do sympathise with u, Honest I do.......its s big shame that U cant take anti inflams, they do help Try keep the Inflamation down, or dampen it down....co cod isnt enough to take your pain away totally.... U need somthing so much stronger, there r Transtec pain patches that U can have, its morphine based, also there is Zomorph, im on that, amazing for pain control, never totally pain free tho....with artharitis that is the prob, one joint will hurt, then next day another, or mb two at saem time, or in my caase, my whole body is in pain, Im riddled with it from neck to feet, including all soft tissues due to another health issue that I have....affects Tendons, ligaments etc....list goes on lol..... also Artha often hits both jointss at same time, i.e. shoulders, both knnes, elbows etc, all toes, both feet etc. so it does seem like u have a form of artha(arthritis), most of us wld tell u this....when U c rhummy in Nov, keep a diary of all your pain, becos its easy to forget, where it is, even tho he will ask, also tell him how Bad it is afffecting your life, day and night, u cant work at mo etc..... regards the lenght of time for your planquil to kick in, i dont know that med, but I take Methtrexate, that took 3months to kick in, seemed ages, but we get there in the end....we will feel the benefits of that med soon, but again we all r different, U may find it Does work gr8 for u, but for some it doesnt, so U wld go see your rhummy and tell him that U need something even better!........that it isnt working etc......but please give it time, this disease is rotten, no one accepts this disease Properly, takes a long time to accept it...... I hope you feel better soon, Trust me, there will be Some light at the end of the Tunnel, but it does take time to get this all under control.... it will get better, but acceptance is important to, makes it easier to deal with then........ Ive had arthritis over 23 years..... but 2002 was the major flare up that hospitilised me for 6 weeks.... my inflamation was off the scale, its only been a Year that ive accepted my illness and health isssues.....but it has got easier! wish U well lots love Jill x
