Subject: newbie with oa in both hips knees and spine

Hi everyone I'm new 2 this forum and in need of help advice supprt, I have had mild oa in both knees 4 over 20 years taking over counter antiflams and painkillers, 4 years ago via private healthcare provided by my employers found out have oa in lumber spine upper back degenerative disc desease and large prolapsed disk my gp refused to do any tests when had the symptons and do anything about itt lucky Ihad private to find out what was causing pain I get injections in spine and p on back, For the last 18 months my walking and pain got a lot worse. Suspecting something wrong with hips been seeing gp and saying mechanical pain with back ans siatica due to condition I have, walking got so bad unable to stand for more than a min pain so sever canno do hardly anthing, doctor completely refused 4 a referral to a hip consultant or any consultant regarding this even refferal letter 2 a private consultant ans said to me what do u expect him or us to do 4 u and said its mechanical pain ans siatica. He reduced me to tears as pain so severe, I went to see my privte spinal consultant who did the xrays and mri and has reffered me to private hip specalist I see him on Monday as I have severe oa in both hips and an unexplained inflamation. My gp knows of my condition now but without private healthcare none of my conditions would have been diagnosec as he just dismisses me. I'm worried as on the sick frm work as not able to. Wlak etcand when they finish me in work I will not have the private healthcare. My gp just dishes out tablets I did not know there was occupational therapy untill I reas this forum. I bought my own stick 18 months ago, had claim pack for dla and they write 2 gp so god help me, my family think I'm an alien and don't understand my limitatiom I'm depressd@at the moment sorry 4 moaning

Hi Ree welcome to YOUR now new found forum of friends..... I am gobsmacked that your GP has beeen rubbish(get a new one) r u in the UK?? ome GPs r dismmisssive becos its a long draen out condition, seems to me he is lazy, I have the best GP, im lucky I know, but U do need to change surgerys..... I truly hope things go well for u Ree on Monday, U MUST tell him your whole story, and about that GP!! im sure things will now improve.... what type of meds r u Now on? Zomorph iws great for pain, im on that, I must say too, that I need another hip operation, and I have terrrible Hip pain, they call it referred pain, altho I suffer with Inflamatroy arthritis, so i get inflamation everywhere in the body, when u se your specialist on mondy, Take a memeber of your family, so thye cna see wot is happening to u, cant beleive families do that to their own flesh and blood, guess mine r amazing...again im lucky, also take notes so U dont forget questions U need to ask.....also mention to him that U r claiming DLA, IF u get refused DLA(often they refuse the first time u claim, to put u offf , DONT) Reclaim if u have to and give your Specialists names, and not that lousy GP.... goood luck, come bk in Monday and tell us what happened please

take care
J

Hi brenda..

Have you tried rosehip extract along with cod liver oil it may help slightly or even more with OA in the knees until you get some help from doctors.

try reading about it first before you try.
