Subject: For Kirsty

Hi Kirsty I know you said you were off to university soon, don't know if you know this, appologies if you do.
If you get a letter from your Rheumy saying you have arthritis and it affects your hands etc. so it difficult to write/type. then if you show it to your lecturers they will usually give you a little more time to put your assignments in. which is very handy when your having a flareup and not feeling well. I did this recently when at uni (postgraduate student) .

Also check out student union they sometimes have bursarys for disabled students. They should also have a list of charitable trust that also offer busarys. I got £1000 from one cant remember the name of it will see if I can find it for you. Know the womens trust give small amounts of £100 out.

Also they usually have a liaison officer.. a lecturer that looks after disabled student.. they can also get you some help with funds.. they did have a Govt scheme going where disabled students were given free of charge a laptop. My brother got one through it. not sure if it is still going but if you dont ask you dont get.

Hope this is a help.. its always nice to get a little extra cash n stuff xxxxx Take care xxx

Just top add Kirsty got some money from these trusts.
The womens trust

Educational grants Advisory scheme

Thomas wall trust

The Broadlands Home Trust

Hilda Martindale educational trust (got £1000 of this one)

It s a little bit of work but it pays off.. plus i dont know what you are studying there are specific trusts also for different subjects check it out on google. Some are just for women so youve a bit more chance with them. Good hunting XXX

Oh my, thank you so much!! I'll have to wait and see what happens but THANK YOU!! :D

A teacher said that a Dictaphone might come in useful if I'm having a flare because I can record the lecture - I'm considering getting one!

That's a great help!
Lots of love xxxxx

Thanks guys, it's a big help.
Talking about drugs, while I was on holiday one of my friends had a break down and ran off, and the first thing we checked were my meds, he hadn't taken any thank god.

Yeah, I'm living at home which is great. I knew there was reason for why I was staying at home, and now I know lol.

Val, that's really good. I might contact them tomorrow and have a yap with them to see if they do that.

Thanks for the help my sweet peas!

Hi kirsty pleased you found the info useful. Like jill said please don't be afraid of using the word disabled. It is hard to get used to but if it gets you the help you need it's worth it.

Plus it's better you start asking for the forms from the trusts now thet usually have a date that you have to claim by. And it can take a month or two to get money through. We don't want you with big debts. Xxxxxxxxxxx
take care

Yah kirsty just read your other post. Soz about that, it hard in the early stages to get a diagnosis cos there's pain and ache and tiredness. But no damage. Double edged sword. You don't want the damage to show the diagnosis. But you want to know what's causing the pain. Poo !!!!
How thet can sort you out soon. You take care xxxxx
