Subject: Hello all, another noob here :o)

Just wanted to say hello to everybody on here and introduce myself.

I'm Amber, 42, a Mum of a 15 year old lad. I live in Lances with my partner. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, or as the Dr's call it (Severe, Poly Arthritis). This affects pretty much all my joints and moves about alot so one day it's in my hands and knees, next feet shoulders, fingers etc. Although it seems to be in my feet and ankles constantly these days, which makes walking pretty much a no go or very difficult I am presenty trying to get pregnant so have been taken off all RA Meds for the past 2 years, which is taking it's toll but i am so desperate for another baby that i put up with it. I am presently just taking Tramadol, Ibuprofen and occasionally courses of Prednisilone Steroids. I also have Corti steroids injections in my joint every few months.

I didn't realise forums for Arthritis sufferers exsisted till now and so am looking forward to having a right good ol natter or moan with people who understand what we are all going through and liten to others problems too and try to offer tips or advice where and if i can. I have already posted on a couple of topics on here before making this post, but thought i best introduce myself properly first.

Take care everybody.

Thank you ladies for the nice warm welcome, much appreciated. I can tell i am going to like it in here, it's really cozy and friendly. I couldn't help but notice since reading the forum that you regulars on here are all like little Rhuemy Angels, always being kind and helping others out be it an ear to listen to their problems or offering advice, help and support.

Hi Val thanks for warning me about the odd one to ignore on here. I will keep my eye out for these people.

Jill you sound like a real star lol. I'm 42 btw and i too like to think i don't look my age. Well considering the pain and crap my body has gone through, i'm surprised i don't look 80, tsk! Must be the meds eh? Maybe they've got an anti ageing ingredient or side effect in them lol, i wish! I got my RA in 2002, well the full blown version that has stayed with me since. Got it when i was 17 originally, only lasted about a year and only in my feet and hands (which was a bit awkward being a trainee hairdresser). Anyway it then came back again when i was 25ish, again only lasted a year, in which time my right wrist was so bad that it eventually fused and so to this day i cannot move it back and forth. Then like i said it came back in 2002 and it hasn't gone away this time, plus this time its in pretty much every joint but moves about alot, (not always in the same joints at the same time). I used to live in Sussex briefly Jill. Ukfield (sp?) Was only while my Dad was waiting to be posted back to Germany with the Army. They put us there for about 6 months after we had come back from a 2 years Posting in Hong Kong. I was only 10 so don't remember it much really. I live in the Manchester area now.

Take care, xhigsx

Hi Amber, Sas

Welcome to the forum Amber and Sas!
Sorry to hear youre having constant pains Amber. What about your other joints, do the pains come and go? Was the pain you had when you were younger as severe as it is now?
Sorry Sas, couldnāt find your post, what type of arthritis you got?
All I can say is can we get some sunshine in here please!!! all this rain and cooler weather is making me ache more! Im used to wearing fingerless gloves for my finger and wrist pains (trying keep my cold and achy hands all warm and snuggly!). I managed to lose my gloves so had to go to the local flea market to look for a new pair too early for gloves I was told!! Managed to find a funky orange and black pair in the end (the only pair available)
Anywhoo, hope youre all having a better day today. besides the usual knee and hand pains Im now having pains in my elbows (boy my arms feel weak!) and my back (one specific spot). Not sure if those are related, normally I do get some elbow and back pain with the flare up but nothing like this before.
Agree with Sas, so glad to have found this forum, thanks ladies for keeping us informed and making sure were armed with knowledge for our future GP and rhummy appointments!
