Thanks for your reply Lynne.
Due to see rheumy in a couple of weeks. GP is ordering some extra blood tests. Has been going on for a while, but last lot of results show it's getting worse, not sure why, I have tried to eat plenty of iron and folic acid rich foods - that doesn't seem to help.

Hiya Louise,
My doc is monitering me at the moment. Apparently my hb is going lower on each blood test, and he keeps mentioning anaemia and is watching me.
I have never been anaemic in my life that I know of, and upto being diagnosed in December just gone, i donated blood regularly, and they always used to check for that.
I am drinking beetroot and carrot juice daily for now to see if that helps.
I am due to see my Rhummy as well next week, maybe he will have some advice, I will let you know if I get anything useful.

Hi Louise and angela.. Have you got a rheumatolgy specialist nurse at your hospital? I have found that giving them a ring, they can give you advice or even bump you up the waiting like and get you in to see your specialist sooner.. I have found you need to be proactive with your specialist or they will just examine you then tell you to come back in six month .. no better off

Hiya Lynne, Unfortunately the rhummy nurse at our local hospital is always on answerphone and most times it wont let you leave a message, and if you can she never gets back to you.
The last appointment with her was yet again rescheduled from June to October
This happened at the beginning of my treatment and I ended up waiting 4 months for my medication. Not Good.
The trouble is they are so understaffed plus one of them has been off sick since March, so they are overloaded.
Yes thanks for that I intend to be proactive with my Rhummy, I have a list for him in fact lol.

I think I read somewhere that you can book a specialist appointment online..?? I know I can log onto my local GP web page and put a special code in that the receptionst gave me and I can book appointment at the hospital maybe you can give your local GP a ring and find out if this is available for you.. if you don't ask they don't tell you!!

Hiya again,
I have complained to the rhummy Jill, (delicately)and he said if I needed help with anything and can't get the nurse, then call his secretary, which I have and she was lovely but quite simply couldnt answer my questions, and emailed the nurse for me but I have had no replies.
Lynne I have booked an online appt but only after being sent details to log on, not just of my own accord, but i will look into that, and if after tomorrow when I see the rhummy I get no joy, I will mention it to my doc like you suggest thanks.

thing is Angela, he is very goood, but I asked him back 3 years ago..."what can u do for me, do I have this Reiters diseae for life"? he said Yes....there isnt anything I can do for u, accept offfer the meds...and if u need the ops, then see the surgeons, they have been brilliant... but since i was diagnosed in 2002 these r the ops that i have to correct the damage....

here goes lol..... 2 knne ops(arthrospys) no cartledge in both knees(reiters)
spine op 2003 (lost two discs) (due to reiters)]
20002 huge Bladder repair and prolapsed womb(becos it happened lol)
2006/7 2 shoulder ops, due to reiters
2007/8 2 Hip ops..arthrisits removal...and bursa removal, and tear in soft tissues repaired (reiters caused this, apart from the Arthritis, casued by Inflam artha now...

now I need another spine op, as anotehr disc has been lost (reiters yet again, it east the soft tissue) however, 2 years ago, that disc was in place... now its gone, and ive been on MTX and enbrel and that is suppose to stop degeneration....in my case it hasnt, altho I have lesss flare ups now.... and on top of all thar crap...i sufer from sever tiredness, fatigue GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR..... I guesss thas y i lose patience with stoooolopid ppl that think they know it all.... even after all this(blowing my own trumpet) i still lik to help others, its only now and again that I go all morose and tell peeps in here all the ops ive had...... i know many peeeps r worse offf than me...but ive had my share op corrective surgery and ive got more to come....I also have three discs in my neck that have been lost ttoo, due to Goood old Reiters!! grrrrrrrrrrrr again LOLOLOL x

Hiya again Lynne, Rhummy was okay, he wants me to go on mex as well as sulfa, he says that should definately bring down my ESR, i have got a 6 week wait before i can get in to see the nurse to get started (as usual). but there you go.
He said I can go back for another aspiration and steroid injection in my knee if it gets to unbearable.
Thanks for asking.

Hi Lynne
GP wants them done in a couple of weeks. Seen Rheumy, he has sent me for xrays(back and knees) and another yet another blood test! He does not seem concerned that I'm anaemic and said that it is very common with inflammatory arthritis.
Hope you are well today?
Take care

Hi Louise

I have infla artha as well, to be honest, its almost same as R.A., however, one rhummy told me I have R.A. as esr was 97 and another one said I wasnt, so to be honest, altho i have Reiters, that leaves me with Inflam Artha, it cld be R.A. 2? dunno...what u gals think that have R.A.? I know it doenst really matter, as the treatments are the same, but it does get me down not truly knowing the exact diagnosis...oh well anyway hope your ok Louise, hopefully your blooods will get better, do u eat Spinage?meant to be goood for Iron, r u on supplements? take care

It quite typical of Rheumys not to take your symtoms seriously in the begining, as you may see on some of the other threads above^ What meds are you on
