Hi its lol happy new year to everyone i have a lump on my left thumb on the knuckle its not very big but the pain is terrible you wouldn't think a small lump could cause such pain it come and goes how sore it is but the pain is there all the time i do have problems with my thumbs and have splints to support my hands when they are bad but this is new have had it a few mths any ideasl thanks

Sounds like a nodule caused by OA. I have them on a few knuckles and they are very painfull. I have had mine diagnosed. My middle finger won't make a fist shape anymore the knuckle is so big in comparison to the others. I am the same always hurting then really painful at times.

thanks lois you always answer no matter how long it is since i have been on i am very grateful i got in touch with my rhummy nurse and she said she would send me an app but it will be the end of jan so they can have a look so thank you for your help will let you know

hi lois its lol i went to rhummy nurse she wanted to see the lumps on my thumbs and she has made an app for me to see the consultant and she will give me a scan to see what is going on it is on the 19th of feb will let you know thanks for your help

hi lois they cancelled my scan really fed up pain is really bad they said i needed the scan to see what was going on and there is no more app being booked
i am at rhummy to see about going on methorexate injections as am having problems getting tablets i need coated ones because of my reflux and stomach problems and they have stopped making them i dread the injections i am frightened of needles let you know what they say thanks lool

hi lois started my methotrexate injections had 3 having a blood test on friday to see if everthing is ok
rhummy nurse phoned and sent me for a scan on my thumbs then phoned and said the consultant had looked at the scan and said i had osteoarthritis and bone spurs in both thumbs and arranged for me to have injections in both i thought they would be like the ones i usually have the nurse said go on youtube you will see a doctor giving the injection i had a look and there was onway i was having them it said it was only 50% if it would work and they are very painful to have so i phoned and told the nurse to cancel my app she said she would refer me to OT to see if they could get me some better splints for my thumbs the OT is phoning me on the 25th of march to discuss it

Pleased to hear you are getting some meds.
I hope the methotrexate works for you.
I can't believe the nurse told you to go on youtube to look.
I hope OT get you some decent splints. What we have to go through. Take care speak soon xxx
