Subject: Medical for new job

Another random question, I've just applied for a new job as a carer but had to complete a medical questionaire which got referred on to medical company who are now writing off for info from GP so suspect I may not get the job now or even if it is a sensible choice for me to continue with this type of work. Any advice re employment process?

Hi Carol, A caring role as a career is a hard physical one. My Mum is in a care home and I see first hand how hard it is for the carers.
It will depend on your what your GP says.
You obviously are a caring person so maybe you could apply to work in a less physical role.
It is a hard one for you.
Take care and wish you Luck whatever you decide.

Thanks Lois, yes i KNOW. I cared for Dad for 10 years and worked part time as a carer alongside. I now work in a care home but on my feet all the time but only work part time. I thought going back to dom care would be easier as gaps between clients even if only sitting in the car. I can't bare the thought of returning to office work.

I cared for my Mum for 14yrs and her dementia made it too hard. She is in a care home just celebrated her 95th birthday.
I guess you love your work. Hats off to you.
Have you tried help the aged they may be able to steer you in the right direction. They may know where your caring nature could be used to make life easier.
You have to ask yourself is this kind of work good for you or a challenge.
We have to change our lives to fit the illness. I find each year I can do less and less.
I am retired and it is hard enough at times. The thought of all of you still working whilst in pain everyday is not good.
Carol I hope you sort out something soon.
Just come back for a chat when ever you need to. X

Only you know how much your arthritis incapacitates
you and whether you would be up for it every day.
If it increased your pain you wouldn't be able to continue, but again only you can decide this, I wish you the very best of luck whatever you decide, a change of direction is always a hard one,
