hi della my advice to you would be to follow a whole foods diet. only eat it if its green, organic, and isnt wrapped in plastic. only eat the best cuts of organic locally produced meat. eat lots of lovely organic fruit and nuts and drink water or tea with or without milk but no sugar. avoid sugar at all cost and dont eat bread either. bread is just another big cake. sugar plays havoc with you blood sugar and therefore insulin levels. insulin is a very powerful hormone and is known as the aging hormone, now girls i know you want to avoid aging right? well causing you body to produce things like insulin through the foods we eat and even the natural chemicals that we produce when we are angry say like adrenalin are all very damaging to your body ,sure their natural but they are still very damaging chemicals. we all need to learn what these chemicals are and avoid the thing that trigger them whether that be stress ,food or medical drugs that we take. the reason i bang on about organic is because of the chemicals commercially grown food and meat contain is staggering. if i washed all you food for you and saved you the water to drink you would tell me to take a running jump. if you then had it tested in a lab you would truly be staggered. you must also avoid processed food, thats anything in a tin bottle plastic bag, pie, ect. the nutritional value is zero. lets take cornflakes and the like. kellogs cornflakes are fortified with vitamins and iron, wow thats good of them you may think?!?! by the time the corn is smashed bashed heated drained pressed and heated again there is no i repeat no nutrition left in there! the fortification is to give it some credence and poor nutrition back ,shame the vitamins and such they use are the cheapest base forms they can get away with. thanks mr kellog. this is the sort of thing you are up against if you eat this garbage processed food. it big money that makes the world go around ,not little joeys cereal being any good. sorry guys.

you know what i really wish the word diet didnt exist! the words we are looking for is lifestyle change. you cannot eat too much green stuff or fruit. find the fruits you love and go knock yourself out with them. eat fresh things with colour in them bcause thats where the lovely phyto chemicals live that mop up the damaging free radicals in your body and help prevent cancer and other nasties. red grapes are best but all are great for you.

the only way I can lose weight is to Count the calories... eat what u like,Fresh of course, all the good stufff, but count the calories, once u count them, u will not have to count that much, becos U will remeber the calories of each product u eat... its not that boring, but all these fad Diets r crap....calorie counting is the only way I get a result... Diet word is bannned, not part of my vocab..healthy eating is what I call it, if I want to lose weight...

Hello Della, Talking about food which is my favourite subject.I tend to be on the more portly side lets say. lol I tend to have a bag of frozen berries in the freezer and munch on them especially in the evenings its like having lots of little ice lollies, it helps my sweet tooth. Another one have you tried juiced veges? I know its sounds yak but I bought a cheap juicer from Morrisons supermarket, I thought I would juice fruit for the grandchildren, but I think it uses up to much fruit and can run expensive so I put in a couple of carrots and a beetroot and was so surprised by the sweet lovely taste, I have used garden peas to,i just try what I have got in. The drinks really curb my appetitie as well. I dont know if it will help the RA yet but it certainly cant harm it can it?

You are welcome Della it is good to all help each other. I am having a bit of grief with inflammation, my ESR just wont stop rising,it is now up to 75 and I just cant stop it. I have gone back on the painkillers as my good knee has started now, and took ibrufen today. I keep trying alsorts to see what might work. I am not in as much discomfort as you though, I know how horrid it is with your knee, and so hard to sleep, have you tried a bolster cushion under your knee in bed, also them memory foam mattresses make a difference, I bought one for £80 in Dunhelm Mill, I know its a few quid but we need these things anything for comfort I say.

hi angela there are warnings out there that juicing greens on a daily basis for long periods can be harmful. little and often seems to work best? there have been several documented cases where drinking juiced broccoli has cured cancer. broccoli is so good for you juiced or not. great informative post!

Hello Wayne, I am no longer interested in any information you may have. It is plain to see now that you are just self opinionated, that you ignore any feedback where you may have to look at yourself, and you are only using this forum, to undermine, belittle, lecture, dictate, and insult folk, and I do not want to be associated with you. Oh and I guess you will have to write back just to have the last say, so just to let you know I will dissapoint you as I have no intention of feeding your ego any longer by replying Thankyou for your past information

what are you talking about? you respond as if the reply was some sort of attack on you or your methods? the post was a warning to people to go easy on the juicing of greens as it can be harmful? but hey lets foster yet more ignorance. and as for opinionated ?if no one had an opinion nothing would get said. greens are great for juicing but can be harmfull if you over do it? wheres the harm in stating that?
