Subject: Arthritis?

Hi,

I'm a 53 year old male who has been in excellent physical condition as an athlete and weightlifter. About 2 years-2 months ago I was knocked unconcious and fell 10' feet stright in on the top of my head. I fractured 5 thoracic vertebrae very badly. Two were decimated to the extent of 30 and 50% loss of height on the anterior side. In an instant I lost 1 inches (3.81 cm)of height. Offers of surgical intervention was declined, I was not crippled and recovered nicely with full physical function but now I have chronic pain in the area that varies between mild to wild even with limited narcotic therapy.

Could this be arthritis and how would I determine if this is so? My doctors have not a clue.

I have taken a two month course of glucosamne/chondroitin without experiencing any changes.

Thank you for any insight you may have to offer.
