Subject: Wrist arthritis
I broke my scaphoid 10 years ago and been having problems ever since. Last year I had an injection in my wrist which gave pain relief for 6 weeks. The pain came back much worse than before. I have had my follow up appointment this week and have been told there is only one option left and that is to fuse my wrist bones together. I politely declined and was discharged. I have limited movement, I struggle on a daily basis doing things I used to take for granted, getting dressed bra fastening is particularly painful, writing its my right wrist and I am right handed. Can anyone recommend any pills or creams I can use just to make it easier to function. At the moment I take paracetamol and use ibuprofen gel.

Thanks for all your non replies, seems itās a very clicky group and you only reply to longstanding members, as questions have been asked and answered after my post. Thanks for nothing.

Hi Meg Only started looking at the forum today for the first time. I am still waiting to hear a definitive treatment plan but though I would send you a note to say that your bra fastening comment is spot on . It need strength and dexterity which hand arthritis destroys. Paracetamol and diclofenac gel helps with general pain but nothing seems to work to regain hand function sadly. My handwriting is like a four year olds!

Hi Meg, Sorry that you didn't get a respond earlier to your question but people don't seem to be using this site as much as they used to, and sometimes if people don't have an answer to your question then they don't reply. I know how sore it can be having problems with the wrist. I often put a support on mine when it's painful and I find voltarol cream helps.
