Subject: Hi Suz
Hi Suz, I thought I would start a new post to chat to you as I didn't want to take over Susan's topic. I'm doing alright thanks although my neck, shoulder and jaw is sore at the moment, not sure if it's all to do with the RA as we were in a taxi a couple of weeks ago when a car crashed into the back of us but it could have been a lot worse. How are you keeping, has your leg ulcer cleared up? Have they started you on any other biologic drug? I'm still on rituximab, I don't know how long it will continue to work as I've been on it a while now. Take care and keep warm xx

Hi Lucy, Awe Bless you, Hope the soreness eases off soon take plenty of rest when you need to, it could be the shock to the body making you feel sore. I was due to start Adalimumab early this year but after reading about the medication having extracts of Mouse protein or something like that in it, I was slightly put off and just haven't been for anything as yet. My ulcer was doing so well for 8 months until 2 weeks ago it had to slightly break down again and back on the tight compressions again. As long as your doing well on the Rituximab, don't worry about it just enjoy the benefits. Try the Vicks on the back of the neck Lucy I'm sure you'll feel some decrease in soreness. Take care xx

What a shame about your leg, hopefully you've caught it in time and it will heal up quickly this time, sometimes when we are a bit run down these things can flare up again. The rituximab has either mouse or rat protein in it too Suz, it does seem disgusting but then again they used to use leeches on infections and i'm sure I read somewhere that some places still use them. Perhaps they would clear up your leg ulcer, only joking, although if it worked it could be worth it. I best make a move now and get the dinner organised. It is dark outside now and just after 4.30pm. Take care and keep in touch. xx

Hi Lucy I would definitely reccomend the Adalimubab (Humira). I have had seropositive RA for 9 years and went onto Humira 4 weeks ago after everything else failed to make a difference. It is expensive I have to be assessed for funding every 6 months but it is definitely the best treatment I have ever been on which means I can still work rather than letting the awful disease take away total independence.

Hi Daisy, That's great that you have found something that helps you. I've been on rituximab for around 5 years now and get the infusions about every 6-9 months and they too have made of big difference to me. It might not be too long until they can tell which ones will help people first time without having to try a few to see what works. x
