Subject: Arthritis

Hi everyone I'm new and really need some help .I'm 64 and have had arthritis for some years but the last 8 years has been a nightmare for me as I am in contact pain .I keep telling my doctor but I am getting nowhere ,I am on tramadol and they do nothing to stop the pain .what do I have to do to make someone listen ,I have no life and I'm getting depressed ,I can't walk far I freeze in winter so stay at home ,I want my life back

Hi Dee, welcome to the forum. You don't say which form of Arthritis you have. Dealing with the pain is difficult and unfortunately not all GP's know enough about arthritis and it's effect it has on everyone.
Tramadol is a good pain killer but sometimes you may need something else in the mix. I take Tramadol and two hours later take 2 Co-dydramol.
Having said that I of course do not know if you take other medication. You could ask your GP to send you to a pain clinic at your local hospital.
I have a mixture of Rheumatoid Arthritis and Osteoarthritis.
I use heat patches and a good old fashioned hot water bottle
