Subject: Medication...

I was on mtx when first diagnosed, didn't work for me.
Was put on sulfasalazine 4 tablets a day, was helping a little but nothing spectacular, upped to 6 tablets a day and now it just seems to be messing with my white cell count, seems to be I have two weeks on the tablets then two weeks off cos of low results. Ive asked for a steroid injection to try and help me through but does anyone else think it may be worth trying a different medication since a pattern has emerged?

Hi Bekki, You could ask for plaquenil as it's meant to be one of the less toxic drugs, it made me feel a lot better when I started it many years ago along with sulphasalazine. I didn't find mtx helped me either. x

Thanks for the reply Lucy, spoke to the rheumatologist and he said he's not concerned with my white blood cell count dropping, just if my neutrophils drop below 1.5 then I have to change medication.
