Hi Suz, I wish there was a cure, we have to live in hope. I'm on rituximab and have been for about 4 or 5 years now and it has been great for me and made such a difference. I think I remember you being on it too but had a leg ulcer. I hope that has healed now and you find something that helps you until they do find a cure (perhaps one day they will) x

Suz , I been in hospital for 6 weeks this year , my
leg ulcers causing cellulitis & then endded up with sepsis & kidney failer , the pred dont help & need replacement hip & both knees & they wont do either with me on high pred or rituximab or with any open wounds , my consultant is thinking of a new drug waiting for NICE approval but with a lot less risk of infection , its a biologic taken by tablet

Awe Colin, Bless you!

You seem like in a lot of discomfort due to ulcers and hip/knee pains. Hope the new Biologic in Tablet form is going to be promising in decreasing the R.A and reduce infection risk for you.

I tried Rutixmab but came off it due to Ulcer breakdown and risks of it coming again.

Have you or Lucy tried abatacept (orencia)?

Hi Suz, Sorry to hear that you are having problems finding something that helps. I haven't tried abatacept. Perhaps the new one that Colin's talking about might help you too. Take care and good to hear from you again.

I hope you get word soon Colin of the new biologic drug, you certainly have had your time of it and deserve to get some relief soon. xx

Lucy , we are having a great time . had to buy stair lift to get out of hospital , got a lift/recline chain to help get my legs better & friday our gas boiler decided to go bang , water from the boiler leaked onto the electrics & fan & boiler died so also needs replacing

I am hoping to get my legs healed so can get my joints done & atleast be able to get around a bit , my consultant says my hip is a result of RA & pred & the hospital Docs say its cause of the infection three years ago , last bloods my CRP was only 126 but they did not think it worth telling me , so must be getting better !!!

Oh my goodness Colin, that will cost you. It never seems to rain but it pours. Oh well, get it all over with at once and then you can hopefully look ahead with some better luck. I'm sure you will find a difference having the stair lift and chair though, I bought a chair about five years ago and I would be lost without it now At my worst my CRP was over 200. I really hope things pick up for you soon Take care. x

I too had to buy a Stair lift Colin and paid for it on monthly basis, then I realised the council can give you something for disability. Hope you got something through them.

Its always nice to talk to you Lucy I find you a very comforting person. Colin has always been a very informative person. Both great to talk to. Take care both. x

Suz , we got our house in mid 80s , we got top floor & inlaws got lower part , very big house & its like two appartments but when I left hospital they decided we could put a hosp0ital bed in downstaires so would not qualify for help , talked to consultant & they are going to get their own OT two maybe see if there is anything they can do to help

in the mean time we got social services here today telling us they want to cut the amount of carers we get for my mother-in-law from 4 times a day to twice + stop the night cover for her , my thoughts are she should be in a home as its to much for my wife , then the next question they will be asking is can they get share of our house to pay for it & the answer is no

That is so nice of you to say that Suz, I am here anytime that you want to chat. Yes, Colin is very knowledgeable, he has been through a lot and probably knows more than some of the professionals.

It seems so unfair that if you need care that they want to take your house to pay for it. I remember reading somewhere that a lawyer can stop that happening but not sure what the conditions are. Hope things get better for both of you and I really mean that. My shoulders were so sore tonight so decided to have a couple of glasses of prossecco and it seems to have eased of a bit lol xx

Lucy , the laws in Scotland are different but in England Tenancy in common in ownership of homes , is a solution to avoid selling my house for care home fees , when we got our house in mid 80s & sold our house & my inlaws sold theirs & we purchased this with that type of agreement but with us owning a share & still living here would stop them anyway

Just wish my wife could stop being her carer & go back to being her family , we are watching her get worse & she refuses to go into respite , & its sad to see the stroke take her health but its also taking her mind & knowing at some point she will not know who we are

I read this Colin and it always seems like diet has such big role in preventing any type of arthritis. it was good read!

Lib Dem are advocating in making Cannabis legal in UK for medicinal use, Hope it can be used for pain relief and inflammation reasons.

Wonder if it helps like a little prosecco did for you Lucy ;)

I tried sending a couple of messages earlier and for some reason they weren't accepted so I messaged the site so hoping this goes through ok.

I hope you and your wife are managing to get a wee break now and again, Colin, even if it's just a few hours here and there. Would your MIL go to a day centre or perhaps a club for the day? It helps if other family members can help out but often it's left to the one person/couple to do it all.

They do say that cannabis helps the pain, Suz, so it could be the answer, lol, if nothing else it might make us relaxed. xx

YES! It may not be cured, but it can be reversed. Mainstream medicine will tell you there is no cure because there is no pharmaceutical medicine to cure it. They are not holistic and work with the drug companies. Check out this video by Dr Bergman on youtube, who will explain it to you. https://youtu.be/RuDngoKwTLQ or go to youtube and type in Dr John Bergman arthritis. 80% of diseases come from the gut area. To reverse arthritis, you're going to have to heal your gut first. This means you have to change your diet. Gluten free, sugar free, dairy free, and maybe Soy free diet.

Oh Thank you Maria.

I agree with what you're saying, it makes absolute sense when the gut is wrecked inflammation gets worse.
