as far as I know, it is not a good idea to drink alcohol while on meds, I think is too much work for the liver!!

True....blood test every 4 weeks, so far so good, however, must state that I dont drink too much, few glasses week at home...social life is zero, so i guess I deserve a little tipple now and again...sadly I cant have any tonight or for a week as Im on Antibiotics as just had 4 teeth removed due to my crap Immune system and toxic Meds!, now that is annoying, losing what were perfectly good teeth until a recent flare up a few months back! oh well, I guess false choppers arnt so bad in this day and age LOL!

Jill 'listen' to your body a few beers in moderation will ease the pain and provide relaxation. Some scientists data suggests that less heart attacks are noticeable with alcohol drinkers with R.A.

the routine rheumy blood tests will flag up abuse I have had no problems with Sulfasalasine enteric coated to release in the bowel not stomach.

I only drink alcohol with or after dinner this protects the stomach and slows down the release of alcohol into the bloodstream.

When I was on MTX I was told not to drink alcohol at all. If I must have a drink thenI was told only one glass of wine a week. It apparently affects your liver.

well I do drink a few glasses of wine a week. Have done ever since I went on the MTX years ago. Rheumy said a few units per week would be fine but NOT all on one night. Think this was in consideration of my age (was about 27 then) - was likely to be out drinking! The bloods you have every month will flag up any problems with your liver and so far there is nothing unexpected at all....It doesnt make me feel ill however or nauseous if it did I think I would be concerned about stomach lining problems (but that is another story).

Life's too short not to have a drink now and then ..... Ok, yes it does knock you a bit and I think the hangovers are worse because it makes my joints hurt as well. I find everytime I get overtired I ache more anyway and thats what happens when you drink ..... everything in moderation I think is the key!
