Subject: having a bad day will it ever get better

hi everyone me again thanks Jill and val for your help and messages. Had a bad day today spent most of the day in bed thats what i tend to do when im feeling down and hurting. The pain in my hand has been so painful today,i cant hardly move the hand at all today the wrist is excrutiating and i wonder if i am ever going to be able to use it again, to bend my wrist up and down is impossible.Does inflammatory arthritis cause this to happen where you are totally disabled in the region. Its been 4 weeks now of constant pain and never ending tablets god im so fed up with it, i know there are many ppl on here worse than me so sorry to moan again , im off again Jill moaning lol hope you are feeling a bit better how are you ? x

((((hugs for Val and Della))))

Della yes inflam Arth is just like that, I have Inflamation in every joint, and plus my soft tissues get inflamed, i.e. tendons, ligaments, eyes, etc... But I must say Della, in my humble experience and opinion, Feet and Hand pain lasts the longest, takes longer to recover, over the last 5 years ive had 6 ops, on both shoulders, spine, knees, two ops on right Hip, one was having a Bursa removed, due to inflamation(bursa is soft tissue) anyway, Point im making is I guess I was lucky beocs I had Corrective surgery on the main joints, but they cant really do tht on hands or feet, my hands and wrists today are terrible, I get Synovitis in feet , well everywhere really, its so painful, its basically inflamation, mine travels throughout my body, But Della hand pain and feet pain I think lasts the longest, takes far longer to recover from, im sure others on here will agree.... this is my personal experience of course Della, but i do beleive im a good candidate to say that the pain in hands and feet last longest, compared to mb other joints, Not forgetting that all Pain is terrible, Pain in any joint is the same pain as Hand pain, but I truly beleive my hands and feet take longest to recover after a flare up, also rem, eber I take all the Meds..Methtrexate, Enbrel injections(DMARDS) have u read about thos meds? even tho I take those, I still get flare ups and pain, one joint is always giving me grief, then next day it will be another etc etc, but hand and feet pain just go on forever it seems,

Del when are u seeing your Rhumatologist again? keep a record ok, helps when u go back... Do u work? if yes, but u cant, then get a sick note for extended time offf... also ask your doctor(after u get an official diagnosis) about claiming DLA thats disability living Allowance, everyone that is diabled by Arthritis is entitled to something from the Disability dept Ok

Let me know how u get on

Hi val and Jill(((( big hugs))) to you both sorry to hear you are suffering val i know what you mean ive been a bit snappy with my hubby bless him luckily he is on holiday so he has been doing everything he is an expert at washing now lol.My other hand the fingers have been hurting today and my foot and neck so havent done anything today. just wish i could close my hand its so horrible. I phoned up the hospital today to see if i could get a bit more advice and tell them that maybe the steroid hadn't worked and blow me the help line wasnt available and the consultant i'm seeing his secretary had gone home so i had no luck.Jill i haven't been given a definate diagnosis who will give me that? because i'm not due to see the rumatologist until august and yes i do work but only part time but really struggling money wise now as have been off for four weeks now so it would be great if i could claim it. I had a look think you have to wait 3 months before you can claim is that right? and do you have to have arthritis everywhere before you can claim or could i still claim if it was mainly in the hands. Thanks again for all your help and advice. Where in sussex do you live jill are you anywhere near witterings.

Hi Della

Unsure about the 3 month claim time , but it takes anywhere upto 11 weeks b4 u get it tho, but it is backdated from the time U ask for the Form to be sent to u....I remember your Rhumatologist said you had Inflamatory Arthritis? am I correct, read that in one of your previous messages, if that is the case, then that is the Diagnosis to your swollen hand, plus I see that you say your other hand, neck and Fott are now hurting, is this a new thing for you? if yes, mb this is a further flare up of Inflam Arth.... You must make a note of this, so when u go back in Aug u can show the Rhumatologist exactly what is happening and when....the reason for the wait til Aug, is becos it gives the Rhumatologist time to see if you get better or worse, it does take time for the inflamation to go down..... also I guess hes waiting to see if other symptoms happen, seems they are Della....I guess it may be better from your point of view to mb wait til Aug appt, and again ask the Rhummy to give u the Diagnosis again....Hope that helps Della, I live in east Sussex, Near Battle, gorjus place....dont know witterings, where are do u live?

take care

Hi Della

The Rhummy Nurse will give u a complete check over of all your joints, ask u questions about yourself, how is the pain etc from one to ten? she will write down the state of your joints at present, what is swollen a etc, how long for, those type of questions......I guess if she feels u need to be on something more helpful, she will talk it thru with the Rhumatologist...she also arranges blood tests, and chest xrays...

good luck Della

Stay well xx

Hi Della, my first major flare up was bad, I was admitted to hospital, there for 6 weeks, but at that time, altho I knew I had arthritis, I didnt know I also had Reiters Disease, it was due to Reiters tht I was admitted to hosp, after three days of tests, they told me I had tht also, which has now left me with Inflamatory Arth. I also have DDD(degenerative disc disease) so rather a complex prob all in all....anyway at that time it lasted months, then eventually when i got the correct meds, altho I still had flare ups(before I went on Enbrel(DMARDS) i was having regular flare ups, evey months or so, flare up wld last couple weeks, and then another happend, even tho I was just on the Methtrexate(DMARD) at that time, so Rhummy put me on Enbrel, which did stop the flare ups from monthly to say approx one every few months, which for me was amazing, becos at one point I cldnt walk, had to buy a mobile scooter(the ones u c the elderly wizz about in, Lots of fun they are)LOL, but ive got it for when i get worse, or cant walk with my kids, Use it around the park...dont need that at the mo tho... so im doing goood on the whole, had a recent falre up, lasted 3 weeksish... Del I think u need to concentrate on things day to day, pls try not worry, becos stress makes things worse! this type of condition can go on for weeks, as u now know, frustrating I know, but once u get on the correct meds, ask about them in aug ok, see what he says, they may start u on Methtrexate(google info) read about it, so u understand what they do etc... dont be worried about the side effects, they are mild compared to what u r experiencing at the mo... its a trade off...and worth going on...also in my personal experience, when Im not having a flare up, I do still get pain in various joints, and tendons, but its mild compared to a True flare up... u will know when u start getting less intense pain... what painkillers are u tking at the mo...becos U can go to your GP and ask for Tramodol....

take care and hope this kinda helps...x
