Hi Anne, Sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with RA. The treatments are getting so much better now although they can take a wee while to work. I remember not long after I was diagnosed about 17 years ago feeling as though my ankle was broken and I could hardly walk and then the pain would disappear and move to my shoulder or wrist. You will feel better once you get the right medication and it starts to work. There are many different drugs they can give now to help if you find the mtx isn't helping. I do hope you feel better soon. Take care x

Lucy, thank you so much for your reply, that's exactly how I feel. The feet were a real blow, I do a lot of walking and fell walking and within 6 weeks that has become impossible. Just knowing other people have been through the same thing helps
although I wouldn't wish this pain on anyone, I just have to learn to go with the f!ow I suppose!

Instead of just going "with the flow", you could consider taking matters into your own hands. Many people (myself included) advocate dietary changes. For myself I have had arthritis for 40+ years then it turned into cripping RA May2015. My worst CRP blood result was 175 mg/L Jan2016, and it is now just 9. Normal is less than 5mg/L. I put my 10 month improvement and recovery down to diet in the first place and bikram yoga once I got moving. So just google diet and arthritis and draw your own conclusions.

I think with RA we really have to be the patient patient. Its not the same as going to the doctors, getting some medication and then we feel better within a week or so. Meds can and do take several weeks to start to work, so hang on in there, most of us with RA have been there.

I was diagnosed with RA in May 2008. I am now taking one of the newer drugs, an anti tnf called enbrel along with MTX. Started taking it November 2012 and twelve weeks later was in remission and still am.

There is a life with RA once you are on the right meds.

Andyswarbs...while Im not dismissing changing diet to help with RA I am interested to know if you are taking and prescribed medication as well, or if its all down to what you eat.
