Subject: Arthritis of the spine

Hi All, so had an MRI following a car accident and results came back with Arthritis. The doctor was so vague and unhelpful I left in a tearful state. I'm having bloods done soon and seeing a spinal specialist but any tips or do's/do nots would be amazing. Feeling very lost and lonely x

Hi Eleanor, once you have seen a spinal specialist all will become very clear. I have had spinal surgery due to a disc slipping caused by osteoarthritis.
Until you have seen a specialist avoid heavy lifting and carrying bags in one hand share the load. Get your self a hot water bottle I find it very soothing. There are also heat pads that might help.
Go to your GP and ask for pain medication if you need it.

The trouble is many DRS are not up on the arthritis thing at all. To see a specialist is the best thing for you. They should explain everything. I am not suggestion you need surgery just letting you know I do understand totally what you are going through.

If you need help ask for it from friends and family trying to deal with it alone is not helpful. I hope all turns out well for you and sorry I took so long to respond haven't been on the site for a while.
Come back on if you need to ask any questions. Take Care x
