Subject: If physio isn't helping, is arthritis likely?

I have very sore knees, especially at night and first thing in the morning. I went to GP who sent me for physio. I have done my exercises religiously and they have absolutely helped strengthen my knees, so day to day activities are much more manageable. However, whilst it has helped my day time pain, it has done nothing for the pain I get in the evening, if I don't move for a while or in the morning.
I get pain in most of my joints in the morning and I walk like an old lady. Even my fingers hurt!

Does this sound like arthritis? If so, what should be my next step? MRI? I have had x ray that showed nothing.

Hi Bea, you should ask your GP to do some simple blood tests to check for RA.
X rays don't count for much a MRI scan would be better.
The stiffness in the mornings sounds familiar.
Sorry to say some GP's are not up to speed on arthritis and term it all the same. You could ask to be sent to a Rheumatologist for a correct diagnoses.
I wish you luck Take care.

Hi Lois

Sometimes medications just aren't enough to help with arthritis. Medications have side effects which create more problems than solve the present ones. Can I ask that you email me so that I can provide you with more information that will definitely help you.

Curious as to what you may have that could help me.
