hi gill ,

dont think any of us are qualified to answer your question but if you are getting pain its not good

which medicaltion did you have problems with , can you take anti-inflammatory drugs or use gels like voltarol on joints , drugs like methotrexate can work better with less side effects with injections

thanks for your reply
yes i can take anti inflammatory

i go back to rheumatology in January
but just wondering if joint damage can occur if no inflammation or if it is inflammation that causes the damage

Methotrexate is one of the medications that i cant take due to adverse reactions basically it affects my asthma ! very badly so just having a break from meds to recover

Gill , several of us has asthma as well , dont know of anyone else that MTX causes problems with it , normal side effects are mouth ulcers , liver problems & sickness but some has problem with the anti-inflamatories like myself & cant take them

the answer is yes to joint damage but you have not got long to wait , there are other drugs & biologics they can try so hope they will sort something out for you
