Subject: PIP
Hi everyone, I called up and applied for PIP, I sent back my pip 2 form and today got a text saying they may need me to see a health professional, in everyone else's cases how long has it taken for you to hear back? I put that I was waiting to see my rheumatology doc (appointment on the 14th - can't wait, hopefully back on the track to getting sorted) any tips for if I have to go for the pip assessment would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance :)

Be very careful at the assessment they watch you very closely, although I have very deformed hands due to arthritis because they observed me wiping my nose and taking my glasses off because I was upset, they decided my hands are fine! Also because I could walk 8 metres to interview room from reception they have decided I can walk 20-50 mtrs no problem! I am appealing the decision. Good luck

Hi Bekki the assessment is awful, they watch your every move and catch you out on every word. Don't mean to sound ott but mine was that bad. Get a letter of support from your consultant and if possible reports from scans or x-rays

Thank you for the advice, I've not seen my consultant in about two years as my care was passed onto my gp and while I was pregnant I had no flares but did see a specialist to ensure everything was okay. Since having the baby my RA has come back with a bitter vengeance (before it was only hands and shoulders, now it's my jaw, neck, shoulders, knees and feet) I'm actually seeing my consultant today so I'll ask him if he can send me his report to take with me when I go for my assessment. I did put his name and my gps name for the people they can contact.

I put a list of contacts and they didn't contact any of them. I've had to include everything with my appeal. For my assessment it was done on information I provided and what they decided on the day from questions and observations. Most of which they ignored anyway

Oh god, I know I'm probably going to have to have one and I'm dreading it. I had my first steroid injection yesterday at clinic and it's helped me so so much (not 100% by any means but a lot better) so they're gonna see me a lot more mobile and managing myself a lot easier..

Hi I am new here just joined tonight. I applied for PIP and received the living level of it . They stated the reasons that I was awarded were down to medical reports, how the assessor viewed me at the interview. I have RA in both wrists so working is really hard (especially as I work on a computer all day) I would certainly appeal against it !!!

Called to change my address on my claim yesterday and the lady on the phone told me that they'd made a decision on my claim on the 9th (my assaesment was only on the 7th) and she told me I get the standard daily living rate and also the standard mobility. Was quite surprised as I thought I wasn't going to be awarded anything!

bekki , why would they give you standard mobility ? , I would consider appealing against it & maybe ask CAB as to what they think

Hi Colin I don't quite understand? I thought I wasn't going to be awarded anything, so im not going to appeal when I'm over the moon that I've been awarded both components of pip :)
