Subject: Developing/severe arthritis and textile craft troubles

Hello,

My name is Claire; I am a Product Design student. For my final year project, I am looking into the lack of dexterity and fine motor skills in people with developing or severe cases of Rheumatoid Arthritis and how textile based hobbies such as knitting, sewing, embroidery, quilting etc. can be used to help the condition.

Essentially what I would like to find out what type of textile craft do you make or used to make if you take part in textile based hobbies.

Also how your RA has affected your enjoyment of this craft?

ie: What are you able to do?

What have you had to change?

What problems have you experienced or still experience with this craft?

The aim of the created product is to be an interface between the textile activity and the exercise helping with Rheumatoid Arthritis problems. The product will be for people with developing or severe RA who find it too painful to exercise their hands, fingers, wrists.

By answering these questions, you consent to your answers being used as part of my research. All information will be confidential. Nothing will be published. The sole purpose of this research is to aid my understanding of Rheumatoid Arthritis and the use of textile crafts.

If anyone is interested in further information I can send you an information sheet.

Thank you for your help, I really appreciate it.

Claire
